LBC: A Comfy Lolita Outfit

This week’s Lolita Blog Carnival theme is… A COMFY LOLITA OUTFIT! I haven’t had time to participate in LBC lately, so I am glad I’m finally joining in again!

I will share some of my comfiest lolita coordinates with you. For me, things that are stretchy are more comfortable because it allows for more free movement. I especially love dresses and skirts with generous shirring because I can eat lots of food and not feel like I am going to rip my clothes. My stomach expands when I eat, and in the past, buttons have flown off my skirts from eating too much. It is always really embarrassing when that happens… I’ve also resorted to partially unzipping skirts or dresses before feasting, and covering the unzipped part with a cardigan or bolero. (What can I say; I am quite the glutton!)

saturday I wore the above coordinate on RuffleCon Day One. This Chantilly Phantom Merry-Go-Round dress is super comfy due to its generous shirring. It’s super stretchy, so I never felt restricted. It did not feel tight anywhere, and this outfit was comfy to sit down as well as to run around in. I always favor comfortable lolita shoes, like these wedge mary-janes!

summercasual

This coordinate was a nice casual one from this summer. No wig means less summer heat, and it also means less itchiness. The shoes are unfortunately cut off in the above photo… I asked my mom to take a photo, and I didn’t check my camera until the next day. I was wearing my black mary-jane flats with this outfit, which have built-in arch supports, so they are super comfortable! I usually have to put my orthotic inserts into my shoes because I have flat feet and suffer from a joint disease. Chronic pain still happens, but that’s something I can’t change. Besides the shoes, this Bodyline JSK is super comfortable. It has full shirring, all around the bodice of the dress. The blouse is from Forever21, and it’s really easy to wear and clean.

This skirt has partial shirring, and even though I prefer full shirring, this skirt is still comfortable. It is not as tight as my other partially shirred skirts. The cotton cutsew is super stretchy, which is wonderful. I love this wig from Gothic Lolita Wigs too! It’s not itchy at all and it’s not too tight or too loose. This wig is one of the comfiest ones I own!

DSCN6137 Ah yes, another dress with generous shirring. I wore this coordinate on Christmas Eve 2013! This Putumayo OP is a wonderful dress to wear because it’s light and very comfortable. It still looks pretty formal even though it feels as comfortable as a casual dress. And I am wearing those super-comfy wedge mary-janes again. I wear these shoes a lot because they’re so comfortable and they also add some height.

Dreamation Wig Review: Hinata Shouyo

Today I will be reviewing an awesome shop on Storenvy called DreamationDreamation sells a variety of items, including cosplay wigs, cosplay accessories, costumes, and anime merchandise. Dreamation was kind enough to sponsor me a Hinata (Haikyuu!!) wig from the Taobao company Ghostcos. They also gave me the following coupon code for you all to use: “xiaolili” for 7% off.

I’ve heard about the company Ghostcos before, but I have never tried their wigs. Dreamation’s prices are great, and I think it is convenient to shop through Taobao resellers like Dreamation since buying from Taobao requires a shopping service, and shopping service fees as well as domestic and international shipping costs add up. Onto the review! Here is how the wig was packaged:

It comes with a tag, a black hairnet, and a plastic bag for storage. The wig arrived inside-out, which is great, because I always store my wigs like this. The wig fibers are slightly rough, which makes it an easy-to-style wig.

FlashvsNone

Look at how fluffy this wig looks, straight out from the bag! I haven’t even cut off the tag yet in these photos. The above photos were taken with a mix of indoor lighting and outdoor lighting (I had my indoor lights on, but the windows were also open). With flash, the color is a bright vibrant orange, and quite shiny. But without flash, the orange is still vibrant and pretty, but without the artificial-looking shine. The layers are already cut into the wig, so all I had to do was trim the bangs and trim some side parts to fit my face better. Overall, I think this wig came pre-styled!

flashandnone

The above photos were taken with my indoor lights off, but my windows open. So the above photos are purely lit by sunlight. With flash, the wig is shiny (as most wigs are with flash, and sometimes, real hair looks shiny with flash as well, or at least my real hair is). Without flash, and with simple sunlight, the orange looks muted but still orange. I’m very pleased with this wig’s color! And the fluffiness and pre-cut layers were a pleasant surprise, since I usually have to cut layers into my wigs myself.

The netting on the inside of the wig is well-constructed. The wig itself is fairly thin, but as you can see above, the wefts are placed close together. There are no gaping holes in the wig, so I don’t think there will be any problems with real hair showing through. In addition, the wig was comfortable to wear. This wig has an adjustable circumference!

Now… let’s see what this wig looks like on me! I trimmed the wig a bit and also styled it with my fingers and some hairspray.

It was easy to cut and style, and the fit of the wig was very comfortable. I wore this wig to a cosplay dance, and yes, I danced around in this wig without a problem. In fact, I even ran laps, did sit-ups, and stretched in this wig. (Some Haikyuu!! cosplayers and I decided to be stupid jocks and exercise during the dance, so yes, we had a workout. While wearing wigs.)

beautypluss

Even though this wig is not super thick, as you can see, it looks perfect when worn! My real hair doesn’t show through. That black thing you see on the right side is not my real hair… In case you were wondering, it is a black feather I clipped to the wig! I decided to wear black crow wings for Hinata. ^_^
