Review: Klairs Moisture Rescue Skincare Line

WishTrend sent me a set from the Klairs Moisture Rescue line to review! This is my first time reviewing skincare products, so I’m very excited to share this review with you. Here are the products that I will review:

– Rich Moist Soothing Mask

– Supple Preparation Facial Toner

– Rich Moist Soothing Serum

– Rich Moist Soothing Cream

You can buy the toner and serum together as a set here: Injection of Moisture Kit.

The skincare set was shipped in a sturdy cardboard box. All of the products were safely tucked away in bubble wrap:

Everything was safe and sound! The Klairs Moisture Rescue line is used for intense hydration, which makes it great to use during the dry winter months.

What is my skin like?

I have combination skin: dry skin in some areas, but my T-zone is usually oily and prone to acne. My skin is also very sensitive, and I’ve been dealing with bouts of eczema all my life. Eczema comes and goes… Luckily, I haven’t had too many cases of eczema on my case this past year (although I have eczema on my legs and arms fairly often). Let’s see how well these Klairs products worked on my problematic skin…

Onto the review!

DSC_0094

I will review the products in the order I used them. First, I used the Supple Preparation Facial Toner after washing my face with my normal cleanser. This toner promises to hydrate skin, neutralize skin surface impurities, and reduce skin inflammation (and therefore reduce redness).

DSC_0102

DSC_0020

The toner bottle even comes with a handy stopper that prevents leaking. This stopper is easy to remove, and it is easy to moisten a cotton ball by tipping the toner bottle. I love the packaging of this toner!

DSC_0021

This toner has a soothing scent that reminds me of freshly watered plants, and it has a smooth texture and feels like water. I applied it all over my face with a cotton ball.

DSC_0030

After applying the toner, I used the Rich Moist Soothing Mask! This mask is made from 100% pure cotton and contains half a bottle of Rich Moisturizing Essence.

DSC_0016

When I first placed the mask on my face, it felt nice and cool and had a pleasant fragrance. There was a lot of liquid on the mask, so I wiped the excess liquid (that was on my hands from the mask application) onto my neck. A few minutes later, I felt a slight tingling sensation. I kept the mask on for about 15 minutes. When I took off the mask, there was no stickiness. My skin felt smooth and moist, and by gently patting the remaining essence into my face, the essence was quickly absorbed. It was a very refreshing face mask experience! I highly recommend this face mask.

The next step: the Rich Moist Soothing Serum. This was my first time using a serum! On the WishTrend website, this serum is described as a “magical skin care serum that makes your skin softer and replenished with moisture.” It is recommended for sensitive skin, dry skin, red and/or irritated skin, and flaking/peeling skin. It may also prevent fine lines and wrinkles from appearing.

DSC_0098

The container for this product has a pump for easy sanitary dispensing. The pump even comes with a cap that slips on and off smoothly!

DSC_0023The serum itself is a thick clear liquid that feels like gel. It feels cool upon application and absorbs quickly into my skin. My skin immediately feels soft to the touch! Since this is my first serum, I have nothing to compare it to. In any case, I have no complaints with this serum and I love it! It also has a nice light fragrance.
DSC_0029

And now this brings me to the final step: the Rich Moist Soothing Cream. This rich moisturizer is formulated for normal to dry skin. It is marketed as a cream that has a calming and soothing effect on irritated skin. It can be used as a night cream, or as both a day cream and a night cream. There is no SPF in this cream though, so if you use it during the day, wear sunblock too!

DSC_0097

DSC_0013

This moisturizer has a creamy texture that does not feel oily. When I apply it to my skin, it absorbs easily and makes my skin feel so soft! It has a mild fragrance, which I think smells lovely; it’s not too strong of a scent.

DSC_0025

After using this moisturizer for a few days, I know for sure that I have no reaction to it. I have extremely sensitive skin, so this is a great discovery! (I’ve had reactions to well-known drugstore brands such as Maybelline and L’Oreal, so I have to be careful when trying new products.) Thanks to this cream, the skin on my face does not feel too tight and dry, despite the terrible New England winter winds. If you want a great moisturizer that will keep your skin soft and hydrated, check out this cream!

LBC: How I’ve Changed In Lolita Over The Last Year

lbc

How have I changed in lolita during 2014…? I’m not quite sure at the moment, but let’s take a look at my style throughout the year.

nye

On New Year’s Eve (technically 2013, I suppose), I wore a sweet lolita coordinate with a pastel wig. At the beginning of 2014, it seemed like I was really into sweet lolita. I even incorporated sweet lolita into my cosplays! In mid-January, I cosplayed as Jade Harley (Homestuck) in a sweet lolita coordinate.

But, also in January, I tried out a gothic coordinate:

I wore this coordinate to a local swap meet! The lolita inspiration for cosplay came back again later in January, also for a Homestuck cosplay… I cosplayed as Aradia Megido in a gothic lolita-inspired coordinate. At the beginning of 2014, I was so obsessed with lolita that it snuck into my cosplays!

In February, I also tried the gothic look again:

Now, let’s fast-forward to summertime (or at least warmer weather)!

For my friend Ashley’s graduation, I wore lots of lolita!

Looking at these photos, you can see one gothic coord, but the other two lean more toward sweet lolita. If you look at what I wore during the summer, it looks like sweet was more common than other styles.

I wore sweet lolita as my chosen coordinate for my first Anime Expo, AX 2014. Lots of pink and red! When my friend Terry and I went to Little Tokyo, I wore a red sweet lolita bodyline JSK (Cinderella Bunny):

(This is a bit random, but I just realized I should write a blog post about that California trip that Terry and I took… It was my first time in California!)

When I went to the Tokyo Rebel/BTSSB grand opening in New York City, I also chose to wear sweet lolita.

beautyplus

I honestly did not even realize how much I wore sweet until I took a look through my photos in order… Wow.

In the fall though, gothic (and maybe even hints of classic?) became more common! At the first local meetup of the fall semester, a fun little picnic, I wore one of my favorite JSKs.

beautyplus

At RuffleCon, I wore mostly dark-colored things. On Day 1, I wore my Chantilly OP. On Day 2, I wore an AATP JSK and Elpress-L bonnet, borrowed from Erica. (I wish I owned that bonnet, but alas…) And of course, I wore my comfy mary-janes the whole weekend.

saturday sunday

For my birthday, I attempted shiro lolita for the first time!

ehhlighting

When I visited my friend Ashley in NYC, I wore dark colors again. We went to meet Akira at Tokyo Rebel, and that was an amazing experience! Here’s a photo of us:

friends

As you can see,our coordinates are almost opposites! I had a lot of fun pulling together this outfit. (Red and black is my favorite color combo… and I love gold accents!) I love that Angelic Pretty skirt I snagged from Mbok!~ (Check out my guide to Mbok if you haven’t seen it yet.)

Before leaving NYC, I wanted to wear one more lolita coordinate! So, I decided to try my hand at a hime-inspired coordinate.

lookdown

My last coordinate of 2014 was from International Lolita Day. I went to Boston for a lovely tea party, and I felt like a princess in my outfit!

ILDwinter

It’s my only Innocent World JSK, and I absolutely adore it! I’m really happy with how this coordinate turned out. But now that I’m thinking about it… Did I change much over the past year? I think my style has become more mature, but I’m not exactly sure. I still like sweet lolita a lot, so even though I haven’t worn it out as much as I did at the beginning of the year, that does not mean I am leaving sweet lolita. To be honest, I do feel less confident in sweet lolita than I do in other styles. When I wore sweet lolita in the fall, it was for sponsorship photos. After taking the photos, I changed out of the coordinate and into casual clothes. Although, I remember I had lots of dance rehearsals at that time, and I cannot wear lolita to dance. Maybe that’s why there were slight changes in the fall and winter.

As for changes in my wardrobe, I think I’ve acquired more brand this year! I used to only have Bodyline and handmade/offbrand pieces. And then I got some Taobao things… And over the past year, I’ve added more Japanese brand pieces to my collection!

What do you think? Can you see any changes in my style from the beginning of 2014 to the end of 2014?

Review: Mashmallow Octopus Necklace

DSC_0003

Happy New Year, everyone! How is your 2015 going so far? I’m really sick right now, so I’m glad I took these photos before I got sick… In any case, I can still blog in my sickly condition, which is nice. I hope I feel better soon… (I think I just have a bad cold, but it might be something worse.)

beautyplus

I got an octopus necklace from Mashmallow, and I absolutely love it! I decided to review this product for all of you since I already have some photos.

Here is what I saw on my doorstep when the package came in:

Here is how the necklace was packaged:

DSC_0003

There were no damages to this item, so I was very pleased with the product and product packaging! Instructions and warnings were included in the box. Keep this necklace away from extreme temperatures!

DSC_0004

The octopus pendant is a bright neon pink, and the octopus even has cute little black eyes. It’s a very well-crafted pendant, and the black cord is also high-quality!

DSC_0006

Isn’t the octopus adorable? I want to name her, but I haven’t thought of a name yet. Feel free to suggest names~!

cool

I wore this necklace with a mostly-black outfit. I love the stunning bright color~! It truly stands out against my black top. Both the pendant and the black cord are sturdy. The clasp is easy to use as well! The length of the necklace is perfect, and I plan to wear it with my casual outfits since it’s so easy to wear.

hey

Seriously, check out Mashmallow for all your adorable octopus needs!
