A Coordinate for California

Wow, it has been a month since my last post… Sorry about the brief hiatus! I thought I was going to participate in Lolita Blog Carnival this month, but time flew by and suddenly June is almost over.

But now that it is almost July… I have something to share! In a few days, I will be going to the airport… and flying to the West Coast for the first time! I am so excited. I will be attending Anime Expo in California, and staying in CA for a week with my friend Terry. I’ve never been to California before, so I’m looking forward to it!

I have to pack light, but I will be bringing some lolita clothes (and of course, my petticoat). I also will bring some gyaru stuff with me. I really want to get into the gyaru style as well!

On Day 3 (Saturday) of Anime Expo, I plan to wear a sweet lolita coordinate. I decided to plan out my coord beforehand so I wouldn’t have to struggle to coordinate an outfit in a jet-lagged state.

The coordinate is mostly pink and red! The cutsew is from Angelic Pretty and the skirt is from Bodyline (but it’s a replica of Angelic Pretty’s Fruits Parlor).

The headband and the necklace are made by Sweet Mildred, and the fuzzy star and the small bow are both offbrand. The wristcuffs are from Classical Puppets on Taobao, and they were a present from my friend Terry. Of course, I have to bring these wristcuffs with me! The socks are offbrand and the shoes are from Bodyline (with my orthotics inside ❤ luckily, they fit!).

I may pack some cute rings with me to wear too! We’ll see… I also plan to use a wig for this coordinate, probably my short milk tea wig from Gothic Lolita Wigs.

I can’t wait to wear this coord at AnimeExpo! (And hopefully, I’ll wear J-fashion throughout the week after the con!)

Review: Bodyline Order!

So this review is rather belated, but better late than never~! Bodyline had a free shipping promotion, and I could not resist placing an order. I did not order any lolita clothing, but I did order two pairs of shoes (a pair of white shoes and a pair of pink wedge boots) and a pair of wrist cuffs. I also ordered a cosplay costume since it was so cheap from Bodyline. Shipping was COMPLETELY FREE! No hidden fees.

Here is what the checkout looks like on the Bodyline website (in English):

They split my order into two packages, but they never notified me about this… so when I received the first package, I was concerned that they completely forgot about my boots. I emailed them, and they responded the same day, telling me that the boots were mailed separately.

Timeline:

March 29, 2014 – Placed order with Bodyline, paid via PayPal, and received receipt from PayPal.

March 31, 2014 – Received an email saying that my package has been shipped, and the email provided a tracking number.

April 19, 2014 – Received first package. Reviewed contents and emailed Bodyline asking why the pink boots were missing from the package. A few hours later, I received a response from Bodyline. Here is what they said: “In another bag” … not the most professional response (no greeting, no closing, no punctuation…) but at least it was a fast response.

April 22, 2014 – Received second package (the pink boots).

Bodyline Package 1

The first package, pictured above, contained everything but the pink boots. I was worried when I saw that they mailed everything in a thin package; the package already had a few rips and tears! The white mary-jane shoes were packed in a box, within the overall package, but the box was damaged in the shipping process. The shoes were not damaged, but there was a small scuff. It isn’t too noticeable though. The cosplay came in a protective plastic wrap, and the wristcuffs were squished between the box and the cosplay, but everything was undamaged.

The second package contained the pink boots. The boots did not come with a shoebox.

Bodyline Package 2

The boots were wrapped in bubble-wrap though, so there were no major damages. The packaging was dirty, and it also had a strange smell, but there were no major rips.

Bodyline Pink Boots

I tried on the boots, and they are very true to size! I usually wear size 8.5 (American sizing), so I purchased these boots in size 24.5 (Japanese sizing). The length and width for my feet are fine, and the boots fit my calves as well. There are zippers on the boots too. There are some weird stains on the zippers, but these are not too big of a deal. You can see one of the stains in the bottom-center photo.

The construction for both pairs of shoes are sturdy, and I do not think these shoes will fall apart easily. The zippers on the boots are rather stiff, but this may be because they are brand new boots. The white mary-janes are also true to size.

This experience was not a completely positive one, but I would not hesitate to purchase from Bodyline again if there is another free shipping promotion. (I really love free shipping~!)

Here is my final review for my experience with Bodyline:

Overall: ☆☆☆☆ (Free shipping is one of my favorite things. International shipping is so pricey.)

Ordering Process and Shipping: ☆☆☆ (I am disappointed that Bodyline never told me the order would be split into two packages. )

Communication: ☆☆☆☆ (The response email was quick, even though it was an awkward 3-word email.)

Packaging: ☆☆ (The packaging was disappointing, but it was not terrible.)

Color: ☆☆☆☆☆ (The colors were true to the stock photos! No complaints here.)

Style: ☆☆☆☆ (I don’t have any complaints! The cosplay could have been better, but for the price, it was a good deal.)

Construction: ☆☆☆☆ (I do not see any problems with the construction right now, but I have not worn them much yet. The only item I have worn since this purchase are the white mary-janes. I only tried on the other items.)

(☆ = Most negative/Not good at all, ☆☆ = Not that good, but okay ☆☆☆ = Neutral/No opinion/No answer, ☆☆☆☆ = Great, ☆☆☆☆☆ = Most positive/Fantastic!)

Feel free to ask me any questions!

LBC: Disney Coordinates

Image

This week was finals week for me, and I still have more academic work to complete today… But I could not resist participating in this week’s Lolita Blog Carnival! Unfortunately, I do not have much time since it is finals week, so I apologize for any misspellings or grammatical errors in this post. (I’m rushing to write this up in half an hour or less!)

Now onto the Disney coordinates!

As Alice in Lolitaland, I have to try an Alice coordinate right? Recently, I wore a coordinate inspired by Disney’s Alice in Wonderland when I went to the cinema to see the new Captain America movie. I used Bodyline’s Alice print JSK in the pink x blue color way. I paired this JSK with my Chocomint Tea Time hair clip and a handmade Alice bow. I was also wearing a Bodyline blouse and Bodyline shoes… (Lots of Bodyline in this coordinate!) My knee socks are offbrand. I did not wear any jewelry with this coordinate because I was in a rush and did not have time to pick any out. Unfortunately, I took off my wrist cuffs before leaving my dormitory because it was really cold out and I did not want to damage the wrist cuffs when I took my winter jacket on and off. My lolita big sister Terry gave me these wrist cuffs, so it would be a shame if they got damaged! Terry got the wrist cuffs from Classical Puppets (Taobao).

Here are some close-up selfies (you can see the cute wrist cuff in the second pic!):

For my makeup look, I used pressed powder foundation, a shimmery highlighter, neutral eyeshadow, black eyeliner, and lipstick. I did not bother wearing false lashes for this look, and I did not wear any blush either. I am happy with the way my makeup turned out though! It’s simple, but it was also very comfortable. I forgot I was wearing makeup!

The next Disney coordinate I will talk about is a tentative idea for a future coordinate, also featuring a Bodyline JSK! This coordinate uses another Disney-inspired Bodyline print: Cinderella Bunny! I am not sure if this is the proper name for the print, but that is what I call it. I have this dress in the red colorway. Red is my favorite color, so I hope to acquire lots of red pieces. ❤

In addition to what is seen above, I would add pearl earrings, a pearl bracelet, white stockings, and red Bodyline tea party-style shoes. If I am chilly, I will wear my sax-colored Bodyline bunny sweatshirt (to go with the bunny Cinderella theme). I think this is one of my favorite Bodyline prints, and I’m really happy I was able to snag it from the community sales!

I apologize again for the disorganized and rushed blog post!
