Little Post about a Great Meet-up (and my favorite JSK!)

On Sunday, April 14, I attended a meet-up in Boston that was co-hosted by two amazing Lolitas, Scarlet and Ashley. ๐Ÿ™‚ It was a fun and casual Newbury Street Stroll, and all the attendees were dressed up in pretty frills! We had a great mix of coordinates. We ate a late lunch at a sushi restaurant, walked along Newbury Street, drank delicious hot chocolate (and ate some yummy chocolate too), did some shopping, and took photos!ย

I attempted to dress up in Hime-Lolita style. ^-^ This is the coordinate that I wore to the meet-up:

It features an Innocent World dress (the only brand item that I’ve purchased directly from the brand website) – the Bertille Rose JSK in the Bordeaux colorway. I adore this dress and I think it looks very princess-like! I purchased this dress during the Winter Sale. (And Scarlet purchased her IW JSK during the Winter Sale too! I gave her the JSK when I saw her at the beginning of the meet, and she changed into it. It suits her so well!)ย

I paired this JSK with an offbrand blouse (something I found in a local thrift store), offbrand socks, white tea parties, vintage jewelry, and a hime crown. This JSK is my favorite dress I own at the moment. โค I love the feel of the fabric, I love the comfortable back shirring, and I love the rose and ribbon print! The lace is absolutely gorgeous too… And I love the Bordeaux colorway.ย

Here are some group photos from the meet-up:

And a silly pic:

Another group photo (those machines in the background were epic <3):

As we walked down the street, we saw a sign that said “Lolita” and… we just had to snap another group photograph!

Ashley also snapped a cute candid shot! I had no idea she took this photo until I looked through her Facebook album today and spotted this candid picture:

It was pretty chilly that day too… so most of the time, I had a coat on. I wore my (only) Lolita-styled coat though! ๐Ÿ˜€

All of the above photographs were taken by Ashley (HarmonyCloud).

Prior to this meet-up, when I finally decided to try on my new IW JSK, I asked one of my friends to snap some photos of me. It was not an official photoshoot, but it was a fun little mini-shoot (and we got some good photos)!ย

Here is a light-hearted photo of me hugging the grandfather clock in my dorm house living room:

I love grandfather clocks so much. โค I actually love clocks in general. Actually, I’m sitting at he table right next to this clock as I am typing these very words. If I’m doing homework in my house or taking a study break in my house, I love sitting in the living room next to this clock.

Here’s a photograph that shows off the Bertille Rose JSK very nicely:Image

Just look at those frills. >w<

That is all for now!ย

I will try to blog more consistently this summer. Right now I’m in the last stretch of classes (two more weeks of classes, then finals week…), so I am really busy at the moment. But once summer comes, I’ll definitely try my best to be more active in the Lolita Blog Carnival as well as making more posts about Lolita Fashion and my coordinates.ย

(Also, sorry about this very photo-heavy post!)

Classical Puppets A-Line Petticoat Review!

And here comes the review. ๐Ÿ™‚

I purchased this petticoat from the Taobao store Classical Puppets in the color white. When I opened up my Taobao package and saw the Classical Puppets petticoat squished into a plastic bag about 6 inches long, I thought to myself, Oh no… this can’t be good. It looks so… tiny.ย

But I was in for a pleasant surprise! When I tore open the plastic packaging and took out the petticoat, the whole thing floofed out immediately. It was definitely a huge poofy fluff monster upon opening the package. I was rather intimidated to be honest, but also relieved that it wasn’t as tiny as it looked in the plastic bag.

Since it is an A-line petticoat, I assume it will look awkward with skirts meant for cupcake-shaped petticoats. However, I think the A-line petticoat is pretty versatile. (And if I need a cupcake petticoat, I think I’ll stick to layering the two cheap petticoats I already have. This method seemed to work for my past coord attempts. I don’t think I’ll be investing in another petticoat for a while.)

Last weekend, I had a friend snap some photos of me with and without the Classical Puppets petticoat to show the before and after effects. I apologize up front for the awkward and hasty coords (I didn’t have much time but knew I would have even less time as the month trudged on, so I quickly threw on clothes for the purpose of this review). I did not wear any makeup and I didn’t style my hair, oops.

Here is an example of a skirt (light fabric; I think it’s chiffon with lining) without a petticoat:

And here I am with the Classical Puppets A-Line petticoat:

I also tried on a heavy JSK to see if the petticoat would still provide a nice poof for the silhouette.

Here is a picture of me wearing a heavy velvet JSK without a petticoat:

And here is the JSK with the Classical Puppets petticoat:

I really love the look! The petticoat still poofs out nicely in an A-line shape despite the heavy velvet fabric. I think this petticoat will be a nice versatile one. ๐Ÿ™‚ I might experiment with layering in the future to see if I can use this petticoat with a light shorter one on top to simulate a cupcake shape. For now though, I’m really happy with this petticoat all on its own. It’s really poofy, and I am currently storing it stuffed into a bag. But I take it out to check on it sometimes, and it poofs out again naturally. I don’t know why it does that, but I’m not going to complain. ^-^

OVERALL REVIEW: 5/5 – Comfy elastic waistband, many layers of fluff, soft fabric, great poof, retains shape very well, great construction

All in all, I’m really happy with this new petticoat! If anyone has any questions about this petticoat, my Taobao experience, or my Lolita coords, feel free to ask me!

I really hope I can build up my Lolita wardrobe to the point where I can wear it often. (My dream is to be able to wear Lolita fashion every day. โค I love it so much!) At the moment, my goal is to dress in Lolita fashion at least once a month, even if it is just a casual coord. It’s difficult at the moment though, due to long classes and Kpop dance rehearsals. But I’ll find a way, at least once a month! (Once a month is not often at all either… So I’m sure I can do this.)

Thank you for reading. โค

A Better Photo of the Free JSK I got!

A Better Photo of the Free JSK I got!

Please ignore the fact that my coord sucks. I had a friend snap this photo when I tried on this JSK for the first time. I didn’t wear it much; I only tried it on briefly. (I had Kpop dance rehearsals today… plus a lot of homework to do.) I wasn’t really thinking about coord-ing (I just threw on a blouse, tights, a random hair accessory. To be honest, I didn’t even brush out my hair. And I’m wearing no makeup at all oops.)

But in any case, I LOVE THIS JSK. w<

Also – I had my friend take a few more photos so I can write up the Classical Puppets petticoat review. I don't know when I can write it and post it since I'm really busy with homework, internship work, and rehearsals, but I promise the review will be up as soon as I find the time.
