Japan Candy Box Review & Giveaway

Japan Candy Box

Have you ever tried the Japan Candy Box? I’m so excited to share this fun box with you! The box I received was a Halloween themed one. Even though it’s no longer Halloween, Halloween is my favorite holiday and I’d be happy to eat these adorable Halloween-themed treats from Japan all year round. Japan Candy Box is also sponsoring a GIVEAWAY so you can win your own FREE Japan Candy Box! Click here to enter, or use the widget at the end of this post. The giveaway ends at 11:59PM on March 17th, 2021.

Check out my Japan Candy Box opening on Youtube!

See below for a photo of everything that came in the box:

So many adorable Halloween-themed goodies from Japan! The first snack I tried was the Halloween Night Baby Star Ramen Snacks (Limited Edition). It’s basically a crispy chicken flavor ramen snack (mashed up ramen noodles, but you can eat it as is). Savory and addicting! I wish there was a bigger bag! After I tried this savory snack, I tried something sweet: the Spooky Halloween Black Thunder Choco Bar. This chocolate bar was a combination of dark chocolate and cookie chunks and crispy rice puffs. It was a delightful combination! The Witch’s Brew Mix & Match Gumballs were a fun idea, although I couldn’t figure out the flavors. They just taste fruity and sweet! I tried some by themselves, and tried some mixed together. All of them tasted yummy!

My favorite snack is the one you see below though: the Bokun Habanero Spicy Potato Rings! It’s not spicy at all though, but maybe that’s because I’m used to eating a lot of spicy food. It is rated with 5 peppers on the bag, but I’d say it’s only about 1 pepper. Mildly spicy, but so delicious!

Have you tried any of these snacks before? If so, share your favorites in the comments! Be sure to enter the giveaway here.

Summer Kawaii Box Giveaway & Review

Hi everyone! Thank you to all who entered my first Kawaii Box giveaway, and congratulations to the winner. It was really fun to open up my first Kawaii Box, and I’m super excited to share my second Kawaii Box with you all!

Alice In Lolitaland Kawaii Box Giveaway https://widget.gleamjs.io/e.js

Good luck, everyone! Read on to see my review of this box.

There were soooo many cute stuff in July’s box! As usual, even the box itself is super cute. I love the neon pink print!

The box was lined with its cute signature tissue paper, and it was full of kawaii goodies.

The July 2020 Box’s theme is Sanrio Summer Splash. I love Sanrio characters, and I got lucky with this little haul. I adore the Little Twin Stars socks; I think these socks are my favorite surprise in this box! I haven’t tried the Gudetama or Hello Kitty treats yet but I will soon. I love trying new snacks and candies, and I’m pleased that there were two treats in this box. In my last box, I got one treat – and those soda chocolates were so delicious! I ate them all too quickly and want some more.

I also got 4 stationery items in this box – a roll of washi tape, a hamster pen, sticky notes, and a mini letterhead/envelope set! And last but not least, a cute Pompompurin mini plush zip pouch. I really loved this Sanrio-themed box, and would recommend Kawaii Box to all fans of kawaii culture. Even if you’re not too familiar with kawaii culture, you’d love this box if you enjoy cute and fun surprises. This box would also make a great gift for a friend or family member!

Which are your favorites from the box I got? If you got your own Kawaii Box, please share what you got too! I love seeing the variety of items in everyone’s boxes. And remember – click this link to enter and get chances to win your own free Kawaii Box!

LBC: Plan Your Ideal Holiday Trip To Tokyo For Frills

This week’s prompt is to plan your ideal holiday trip to Tokyo for frills! For this dream vacation, let’s just pretend I’m rich and can afford to go on a shopping spree (and buy ALL THE THINGS)… because I’m going to make a huge list of place I want to shop! Realistically, it would mostly be window shopping. But I definitely want to see these stores in person at least. For my ideal holiday trip, I would love to go with family and friends, but I think a big group would be difficult to manage (unless we split up into smaller groups upon arrival). Maybe groups of 2 or 3 people would be ideal? I’m not sure, but I wouldn’t want to go around alone (especially since I have absolutely no sense of direction). I will focus mostly on frills-related shops, but I will also branch out into my other interests. If I’m planning a dream trip to Tokyo, I might as well include everything I’m interested in, right?

Shopping Spree Time: Harajuku

FIRST, I’m going to list places in Harajuku that I want to shop at, and then move on to other stores I want to visit, other places I want to go, etc. (And I would love to hang out in Harajuku multiple times!)

  • Laforet (Harajuku)  …So many stores I want to see in here!
    • Atelier Pierrot
    • Alice and the Pirates
    • Angelic Pretty
    • h.Naoto
    • Jane Marple
    • Les Merveilleuses LADURÉE
    • MINTNeKO
    • Metamorphose
    • Putumayo
    • Swimmer
    • Super Lovers
  • Daiso … for cheap but cute things! (I heard there’s a really big one in Harajuku :D)
  • Check out stores along Takeshita St.

If I go to Harajuku, I would love to wear lolita coordinates while I shop! Maybe one day I could wear a sweet lolita coord, and another day I could wear a gothic lolita coord.

Stores / Shopping Places to find:

Now, here’s a huge list of various stores and shopping places I want to find. Some of these are lolita brands, some are gyaru, some are offbrand (or even just souvenir shops or discount shops).

  • Atelier Boz
  • Innocent World
  • Baby the Stars Shine Bright
  • Juliette et Justine
  • Miho Matsuda
  • Closet Child, of course! Maybe check out multiple Closet Child locations (if possible)
  • MILK
  • Emily Temple Cute
  • Liz Lisa
  • Jesus Diamante
  • Axes Femme
  • Amavel
  • Fi.n.t
  • ACDC Rag
  • Shibuya 109
    • Ma*rs
    • Ank Rouge
    • KOKOkim
    • Ghost of Harlem
    • GOLDS Infinity
    • Swankiss
    • Cecil McBee
    • d.i.a.
    • Liz Lisa
    • Lip Service
    • one spo
  • Kera Shop
  • Maiden Clothing (Pure Sound)
  • Prisila (to look at gorgeous wigs <3)
  • Paris Kids (cute and affordable accessories and jewelry please!)
  • Bodyline
  • Grand Bazaar
  • Studio Alta
  • Shinjuku Marui Annex
  • Thank You Mart (cheap stuff!)
  • Omotesando Hills (I really want to see the architecture of this building in person!)
  • Cat Street (Shibuya)

Other fun things to do:

  • Purikura~!
  • Play a game of Pachinko
  • Visit shrines and temples
  • Go to a cat café
  • Go to an Onsen
  • Gachapon! (Maybe at Shinjuku Yodobashi…)
  • Walk through parks and gardens
  • Go to a maid café (maybe in Akihabara!)

Shopping for my anime/manga fandom needs:

And here is where I can satisfy my otaku cravings… official anime merchandise, cosplay-related things, doujinshi, and more!

Bucket List of Specific Places:

These are places that are on my bucket list… I really want to see all of them if possible!

…And I’m sure there are many more things I would love to do! I apologize for the messiness of this post; had to write this as quickly as possible since I want to post it on time for the Lolita Blog Carnival.

Are there any places you would like to go on your ideal trip to Tokyo that is not listed on here? Please let me know, and maybe I’ll add it to this list too! 😀

Hard Candy House: First Batch (1)

Hard Candy House sponsored me for the first time! I love their products, so I was flattered when they decided to sponsor me. They make so many super cute accessories that fit a variety of styles. Check out their Etsy store too!

Even the packaging was cute: Check out the cute heart tape! I was really excited to see this package!

Everything was safely packaged; there were no damages to the items. I was very pleased with the care Hard Candy House took in their packaging.

When I opened up the mailer, I found a package wrapped in polka-dot tissue paper! Upon opening this inner package, I found more packaging. Each item was wrapped in its own tissue paper and plastic bag.

As you can see above, Hard Candy House provided a coupon code: you can use “XIAO150603” to get 15% off! This is an amazing deal!! (NOTE: in the above image, the coupon code is incorrect. To get 15% off, you must use the code “XIAO150603″ — Let me know if you have any issues.)

Now, let’s go through each item in the batch! I noticed that the items seemed to be in one of two categories: an exclusive set of pink items from the Good Girl collection, and a set of cherry-themed items from the Cherry Tart collection. All items from these collections are one-of-a-kind! First, let’s take a look at the Good Girl collection!

Below, you’ll see two photos of a necklace taken in natural lighting.

DSCN0593 DSCN0594

When I first unwrapped this necklace, I thought it was a hairbow! The jumbo bow pendant is super cute. I love the details such as the heart charm and the string of faux pearls. The print on the bow is cute and versatile as well! I think this bow could work for sweet lolita, classic lolita, and even hime gyaru fashion! This necklace would be a great statement piece with a simple outfit as well.

Here is a photo of the necklace taken in indoor lighting:

The construction is sturdy, so don’t be afraid to wear this outside!

The next item in this pink collection is a flower accessory that can double as a hairclip and a brooch!

I love how some of the petals use the same fabric as the bow on the necklace. This little detail really brings the set together. The string of pearls and the color scheme also add consistency; if you wear this hair accessory with the necklace, it truly is a perfect match. If you wear them separately, they would still be super cute!

I’m glad that the backing has a French clip as an option! This is one of my favorite types of clip because it’s sturdy and works well with thick hair. You can use clip this flower into your hair or your wig, or you can pin it to your top, skirt, dress, purse… you name it!

The next accessory is absolutely adorable: a bow with generously dangling charms that you can clip onto your backpack or purse! Now, you can bling out your bag to match your outfit and other pink accessories. This bow looks almost the same as the one on the necklace, and it uses the same fabric. The charms include faux crystals, faux pearls, a flower bead, and a cute fuzzy teddy bear (and more!)!

Despite the huge amount of charms, it doesn’t feel too heavy. I don’t think the charms will rip the bow. The clip on the top is easy to use!

Hard Candy House also sent me the following pair of earrings from the Good Girl collection. They’re super cute and I love how the tiny bows use the same fabric as all the other accessories in the collection. The construction is sturdy and the design is lovely!

Unfortunately, I have extremely sensitive ears, so I cannot wear these earrings. (I can only wear sterling silver or gold earrings.) But if you don’t have sensitive ears, be sure to check out Hard Candy House‘s earrings! They have so many pretty designs. DSCN0614

I was lucky enough to schedule a photoshoot with Studio du Petit Oiseau to feature the items from the Good Girl collection! Here are some of my favorite photos from the shoot:

And here’s a great shot of my full outfit that the photographer captured:

What do you think? I love how the Good Girl hair accessory and necklace bring out the pastel colors in my t-shirt. Check out more photos from the photoshoot in this album on my Facebook page.

Hard Candy House also sent me some items from the Cherry Tart collection, but I will review those in a separate post. You can see the flower accessory from the Good Girl collection and two items from the Cherry Tart collection in this gifset I posted on my Tumblr. You can also check out this album for clear photos of the products themselves.

Here are some great items you can check out from the Cherry Tart collection in the meantime:

Look forward to Part 2 of my review for Hard Candy House! Let me know what you think of the accessories you’ve seen so far.

Blippo: Kawaii Items!

Blippo is a webstore full of super cute items! They sell adorable purses, kawaii accessories, cute Japanese stationery, candy, plushies, magazines, and more! Blippo sent me a mystery package to review, and the items inside the package were all pleasant surprises.

The package arrived in a sturdy cardboard box:

Look at that cute kitty and heart that Blippo drew! ❤ The package never got stuck in customs, yay!

The package had plenty of fillers inside to cushion and protect their products. Blippo sent me the following items:

1) Jewel Checkered Seal Phone Sticker

2) Kawaii Animals Ceramic Mug

3) Strawberry Hairpins

These are all new, unused items. The ceramic mug was wrapped in bubble wrap within its original box, so there were no damages at all. The mug I got was a cute piglet one!

I love how the ears are on the inside of the mug. It’s very unique and adorable, and of course, useful! Here are some more views of this kawaii mug:

Here is a closer-up photo for the strawberry hairpins:

The quality of all these items are great. I can’t wait to wear the cute Strawberry Hairpins and use the Mug for my tea on campus. You can see what the hairpins look like with flash and without flash in the comparison photo below:

To use the Jewel Checkered Seal Phone Sticker, you just cut the sheet into sections that you want to use. Clean the surface you want to place the stickers on, let the surface dry, and then you can stick the jewels on! Here is what I did with the sheet of stickers:

I kept most of the sticker sheet intact for the large chunk on the back of my phone case, and as for the sections I cut off, I placed two small squares on my phone and other small bits on my iPod case. The stickers also come in different colors (Clear, Blue, Pink, and Purple) on Blippo‘s website! They even have a huge Decoden section if you want to look for supplies to make cute decoden phone cases and other crafts.

I also have an upcoming surprise for you all… But I can’t tell you what it is yet. Maybe it will be revealed in my next blog post…? We’ll see! For now, please check out Blippo; they have so many cute things to offer!

LBC: What’s Next On Your Lolita Wishlist?

What’s next on my Lolita wishlist…? Well, this is a rather difficult question! My variety of interest is not just descriptive of the general plane; I also have a variety of Lolita styles that I am interested in. From sweet to gothic, I love them all! I have a list of Lolita dream dresses, but to be honest, I do not know if I will ever be able to claim them as my own. My dream dresses are “dream” dresses because they seem out-of-reach (and yes, I sometimes dream or day-dream about them). They seem unattainable due to their rarity or due to how expensive they are. (Sometimes, I find them for sale, but the sellers raise the prices… a lot. More than I can afford. And even if I could afford them, I would feel guilty paying that much money for one dress.)

In any case, I am not focusing my attention on one dream dress as my next target on my Lolita wishlist. I have a Lolita wishlist, but my dream dresses are not the only items on it. I also have what I call my “realistic” wishes: things that I want and can afford, and so, I add them to my wishlist. Some of these are not specific items, but desires for a type of item. Here are some examples of what I mean: a black loliable vest, a princess-sleeved blouse, a dress with a forest theme, a dress with a trump theme, a simple long-sleeved OP. As you can see, these items do not designate a brand, so I can fulfill my wishes for these items as long as I find something that fits the description, and  that discovered item also fits my budget and my tastes! So if I like the item, it’s a good deal, and it’s possible for me to purchase it, then I can check that thing off my list!

Now back to the Lolita Blog Carnival question: What’s Next On Your Lolita Wishlist? The next target on my lolita wish list is a trump-themed skirt. That has at least partial shirring (and that will hopefully fit me comfortably).

I have my eyes set on the Angelic Pretty Royal Cards skirt:

I spotted this skirt recently on Mbok, and so, I could not resist placing a bid on it. If I do not win the auction, I will still look for it. My favorite color way for AP’s Royal Cards Skirt is black, picture above. If I see a similar trump-themed skirt, even if it is not exactly the same, I will still be open to bidding on it or purchasing it (if it is within my budget). I just love the trump motif so much~! (And also, I really want a nice trump-themed skirt to wear with my trump-themed socks from the Metamorphose lucky pack!)

What is on your Lolita wishlist? Is there anything you are dying to purchase?

The Wonderful World of MBOK

You can find some great deals on Mbok! Mbok is a Japanese online auction site that has a wide variety of items. There are lots of great J-Fashion (including lolita!) items there: you can find dresses, shirts, skirts, pants, jewelry, hair accessories, bags, novelties, and more. If you are not a resident of Japan, you need to use a shopping service to bid on Mbok items. The shopping service I used is Japonica, but there are other shopping services out there.

Searching for specific items on Mbok can be time-consuming, since you have to scroll through different pages, but it is pretty easy to find good deals on brand (and offbrand) items.

I would recommend using the Google Translate extension if you have the Google Chrome web browser. If you do not have Chrome, copying and pasting the Mbok URL into Google Translate works too. Google Translate is not perfect, but it works well enough to help with Mbok navigation.

Check out Mbok’s Alternative/Punk section for lots of lolita items! This is where you will find Angelic Pretty, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, h.NAOTO, Emily Temple Cute, Jane Marple, and more. This section houses lolita, gothic, punk, and other alternative styles.

You can also search for items from a specific brand on Mbok by looking at the brand category. Here are some great links to lolita brand items on Mbok:

Innocent World

Baby the Stars Shine Bright

Angelic Pretty

Here are links to some great brands that may carry loliable items on Mbok:

Axes Femme – This brand has great cutsews and cute blouses! There are some nice skirts, JSKs, and OPs too (but not all items will accommodate a petticoat). An Axes Femme item was one of my first Mbok purchases!

Liz Lisa – This is a popular Gyaru brand that has some loliable blouses, cardigans, and cutsews.

Tralala – I’m not too familiar with Tralala, but it is one of Liz Lisa’s sister brands. You may be able to find loliable stuff here too!

Jesus Diamante – I’m not too familiar with this brand either, but it’s a popular Hime Gyaru brand and I’ve seen lots of cute loliable coats from them! They also have really cute parkas/sweatshirts.

If you are interested in Gyaru fashion, check out the whole Mbok 109/GAL section. I have not extensively explored this section yet, but there are tons of brands and lots of cute and cool clothes!

If you want to use Mbok’s search feature, here are a few terms you can try:

ロリータ or ロリィタ-  Lolita

姫  –  Princess (Hime)

ワンピース – One Piece (OP)

福袋 – Lucky Pack (Fukubukuro)

Find many more helpful search terms from this EGL post by Kyomu.

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know! I am not an expert, but I can try my best to answer your questions. I hope someone finds this post helpful!

Have fun browsing and shopping~!
