[Review] Laneige Oil Free Liquid Cleanser

Today, I am reviewing the Laneige Oil Free Liquid Cleanser. I got this for free when I purchased the Laneige BB Cushion last year!

Here is the product description from Target’s website:

“Gentle and effective. Specially formulated without oil, fragrance or alcohol to deep-clean and remove makeup from even the most sensitive skin. Purifying hyacinth and anti-oxidant rich green tea protect skin while invigorating lemon and peppermint extracts leave it refreshed, smooth.”

~ Pros ~

  • Great packaging
  • Very gentle; no negative reaction
  • Does not dry out skin
  • No scent

~ Cons ~

  • Does not remove waterproof eye makeup (but it does remove BB cream!)
  • Not sure how well it cleanses my skin

I love the packaging of this cleanser! It’s very practical: the clear bottle allows you to see how much product is left, the pump is quick and easy to use, and there is even a tab for the pump so you won’t spill the product when you’re not using it.

This cleanser has absolutely no scent; it literally smells like nothing. I’ve never tried a truly scentless cleanser before! The texture is watery and does not lather into a foam. I’ve been using this cleanser since I started using the Laneige BB Cushion, but it is not the only cleanser I’ve been using since I’m not sure how well it cleanses my skin. I’ve continued to use my normal foaming cleanser (which I still need to find a better alternative for since it dries out my skin…). What I’ve been trying to do is use this Laneige Liquid Cleanser all over my face, and use the foaming cleanser only for my T-zone.

DSC_0218.jpg

As you can see above, this cleanser is very watery and it has no color. This is a decent cleanser and I have no issues with it, but I think it’s overpriced. I don’t think I will purchase it in the future, unless I see it at a cheap price (or if I can snag it for free again!).

[Review] Laneige BB Cushion

Hi, everyone! It’s now 2016, and I hope you all had a happy New Year. ❤ This year, I hope to blog more often. There are some new changes to my blog, such as my new banner and some new ideas. I decided to use brackets for each title showing which category the post belongs to. Do you like the idea of using brackets for my titles? I also will try to watermark my photos from now on. Please let me know your opinions! ❤

Now, I’ll start the review for the Laneige BB Cushion.

DSC_0143.jpg

Here is the description for this BB Cushion from Target’s website:

“The revolutionary 5-in-1 BB in a convenient compact. Go beyond your regular BB cream. Broad-spectrum SPF 50 blocks harmful UVA/UVB rays, while skin perfecting Optimal Mineral Water cools and hydrates upon application. Prevent shine and brighten skin by visibly reducing dark spots. Patented air cushion distributes just the right amount of BB cream. Apply whenever and wherever you want, with no buildup or bother. All day flawless skin is just 1 step away with BB Cushion.”

I actually bought this (along with another Laneige product) a year ago but somehow forgot about it until now. I was shocked when I saw Laneige products at Target, and when I bought this, there was a sale going on so I got a free product. I paid for the Laneige BB Cushion, and got a cleanser for free (which I will review later!).

Fotor0105175920

~ Pros ~

  • No negative reactions
  • Fantastic packaging
  • Easy to apply

~ Cons ~

  • Shiny finish
  • Sheer coverage

Read on for more details…

The BB Cushion comes with a refill, which is great! I’m not sure how long this will last, but I’ve been using the product for a week now and you do not need to use much to cover your face.

The design is so sleek and sophisticated! I love this packaging. This is the second BB Cushion I’ve tried; the first one I tried was the Ossion Secret Total Cushion, but I wasn’t satisfied with that one since it was way too light for my skin tone. The packaging of the Laneige one also looks nicer than the Ossion one (which is ironic since the Ossion one was ridiculously expensive).

DSC_0165.jpg

The Laneige cushion comes with this lovely dark blue applicator sponge! It sits on a tray that separates it from the product. There’s also a handy-dandy mirror! This mirror is so nice… It’s way better than my current compact mirror.

DSC_0166.jpg

Ah yes, that feeling when you remove the film from the product… There’s no turning back!

DSC_0169.jpg

The air cushion has tiny little holes to enable product distribution. I haven’t had any issues with getting excess product; when I press down with the applicator sponge, only a little bit of product comes out at a time. This is ideal since if I need more product, it’s easy to press again and continue.

I tried the product on my arm first, and was disappointed by the shininess.  Do you see that shimmery spot on my skin? That’s the BB cream. I hoped it would be less shiny on my face, and it wasn’t too bad. This BB cream would be fine for daily wear since it gives a light coverage. It doesn’t cover up much, but evens out the skin tone. Sadly, my pores still look huge with this product. I was also hoping this BB cream would be matte, but it’s not. There was no mention of shimmer or shine in the product description, but oh well! I’ll still use this product up.

Here’s a close-up photo of me wearing no makeup except for the Laneige BB Cushion:

DSC_0186.jpg

As you can see, the product doesn’t do anything for my giant pores. It does even my skin tone though, so my acne scars (and that chicken pox scar from forever ago) blend into the rest of my skin. The color of this BB cream is lighter than my skin tone, but it’s not as light as the Ossion one.

I don’t think I will repurchase this, since I would rather find a matte BB cushion. I will try to use this daily and see if it offers any skincare benefits.  If so, I’ll write about it!

The Face Shop: Ink Graffi Brush Pen Liner Review

My friend Terry bought this eyeliner from The Face Shop for me, so I thought I would write a review for it!

DSCN3891

I’ve always had terrible luck finding eyeliners because of my really weird eyelids… They look like monolids, but I do have a crease (but it’s invisible). I’m not sure what the technical term is, but it may be “hooded eyelids.” In any case, my eyes looks like monolids, but whenever I apply eyeliner, I need to make it really thick so it will be visible. If I draw a regular line, once I open my eyes, the line disappears! It’s so frustrating. I know how to make the eyeliner show up: I make a super thick line. But then this causes another issue: when I close my eyes, there’s an awkwardly massive line. It’s really annoying but there’s nothing I can do about it.

Since I have this oddly hidden crease, I’ve always had trouble with pencil eyeliners and liquid eyeliners. For some reason, they always get really smudgy (probably from blinking), and the only eyeliner that I’ve ever had luck with is a cream eyeliner that comes in a jar. The cream eyeliner is really heavy though, so I only use it for photoshoots, dance performances, and cosplay. If I’m putting eyeliner on randomly (just for fun, or for work), then I don’t want to use the cream liner.

During the past semester, I’ve been using this eyeliner for “daily wear.” I don’t wear makeup every day, but sometimes I will wear eyeliner to class if I’m not too tired in the morning.

DSCN3893

Pros: dries quickly, great staying power

Cons: not always precise

The Ink Graffi liner is a brush pen liner and it does feel like a pen when I hold it. Drawing the line is pretty easy, but as I explained above, I have to make the line really thick for it to show up. Sometimes, I’ll just do one line and let it be since it’ll show up when I blink or close my eyes. If I want to make a thick line, I have to draw the line a few times, adding more to the top part of the line each time. This liner is easy to use, but sometimes the ink doesn’t run smoothly and I have to go over spots that don’t have ink. The ink dries quickly, which is a plus! After using this eyeliner for the previous months, I have never had any bad side effects or reactions. I have extremely sensitive skin, so I’m glad I didn’t get any irritation from this eyeliner. I’ve had bad reactions from drugstore brands in the past, even reputable brands like Maybelline and Revlon.

This eyeliner holds up really well! When I scattered my grandfather’s ashes last weekend, I basically cried all day. I thought I had made a dreadful mistake by wearing eyeliner in the morning… But at night time, my mom told me that my eyeliner was still black; the only issue was some of it transferred to the area under my eyes, but that transfer was probably caused by me rubbing my eyes with tissues too much. When I looked in the mirror at night, I was surprised to see that the liner was still on the upper lids (and it still looked black!). And the transfer on the bottom wasn’t as terrible as I imagined it would be.

Here is an example of what this eyeliner looks like on me:

tumblr_nupdbdRk911sv3vjto2_1280.jpg

The color is a nice matte black. It’s not the blackest black, but it’s definitely a true black.

Here are my ratings for the Ink Graffi eyeliner from The Face Shop:

Comfort: 5/5 (would definitely recommend for people with sensitive skin!)

Ease of use: 4/5

Color: 4/5

Staying power: 4/5

OVERALL RATING: 4/5

Do you have a favorite eyeliner? Any new eyeliners you want to try?
