UNIQSO: I.Fairy Hanabi Circle Lenses in Violet

I know this WordPress blog focuses on J-Fashion, but I would also like to use this blog for in-depth reviews! If you are interested in circle lenses, please read on!~

UNIQSO sponsored a pair of circle lenses to be used for cosplay, and even though I received these lenses for cosplay, I will definitely wear these circle lenses for non-cosplay purposes too! I can wear them for lolita fashion, or even casually if I do not feel like wearing glasses. If you just want to see the final review for the circle lenses, scroll down to the bottom of this post!

The Rundown:

Here is the original package that I received in the mail:

The package did not take too long to arrive at my doorstep, and I had no problems with customs. The shipping method that UNIQSO used was reliable! They even marked the package as a gift, which is great.

Inside the package, the contact lens case and the box with the circle lens tubes were safely inside! I was pleased that the circle lens tubes were wrapped in bubble wrap to ensure extra protection.

I soaked my new circle lenses in contact solution overnight, and then the next day, I wore them for the first time to costest Nishikino Maki, a character from the idol anime Love Live! School Idol Project. The name of these lenses are I.Fairy Hanabi Circle Lenses, and the color is Violet.

The Look:

I took so many selfies when I costested Maki! I cut and styled the wig the day before the costest; I am happy with how the wig turned out, but I may need to re-trim the bottom lengths. Enough about my wig though; let’s talk about these amazing circle lenses! I love the I.Fairy Hanabi design. It’s subtle, but very pretty! The little swirls are cute up-close. The ring of violet color is thin, but vibrant. The thin ring also makes my pupils look very large, which I think gives my eyes a very cute dolly effect. There is also a black limbal ring which gives great definition!

I put in these contacts before testing my cosplay or doing any makeup, and when I first put them into my eyes, there was no stinging or discomfort. They were not difficult to apply at all! I usually have some trouble with circle lenses, especially when they have large diameters, but these slipped onto my eyes without any problem. I did not need to use any eyedrops before or after! I wore the circle lenses for the whole day, and my eyes did not feel dry or irritated. The circle lenses did not slip around in my eyes either. I would highly recommend the I.Fairy Hanabi circle lenses!

Here are some up-close and cropped photos of just my eyes so you can check out the circle lenses in more detail:

In certain types of lighting or angles, the difference between my real pupils and my real irises can be seen since the colored irises of the circle lenses are a thin ring that reveal some of my natural irises. As seen above, you can see my small black pupil and my brown irises. I think it looks a bit odd, but it could also give a very cool and pretty effect to your eyes!

In other types of lighting or angles, my brown eyes and pupils blend together to look the same. This makes it look like the entire area inside the circle lenses’ irises are the pupils! I love this dolly eye effect.

Final Review:

Overall: ☆☆☆☆☆

Communication: ☆☆☆☆☆ Throughout the sponsorship process, UNIQSO was great with communication! Their representative was very polite and kind, and also responded to my questions in a timely manner. They explained the terms and conditions clearly, and also provided a tracking code for my package.

Packaging: ☆☆☆☆☆ As stated in the first section of this post, the packaging was amazing! I definitely trust UNIQSO to ensure that their products are undamaged. I have purchased from UNIQSO before, and never had any problems with their packaging or shipping.

Style: ☆☆☆☆ Very cute design, but I think it looks better from a distance rather than up-close in certain lighting. This is very minor though; the style is still amazing.

Color: ☆☆☆☆☆ Very vibrant violet!

Comfort: ☆☆☆☆☆ One of the most comfortable lenses I’ve ever worn.

(☆ = Most negative/Not good at all, ☆☆ = Not that good, but okay ☆☆☆ = Neutral/No opinion/No answer, ☆☆☆☆ = Great, ☆☆☆☆☆ = Most positive/Fantastic!)

Review: Bodyline Order!

So this review is rather belated, but better late than never~! Bodyline had a free shipping promotion, and I could not resist placing an order. I did not order any lolita clothing, but I did order two pairs of shoes (a pair of white shoes and a pair of pink wedge boots) and a pair of wrist cuffs. I also ordered a cosplay costume since it was so cheap from Bodyline. Shipping was COMPLETELY FREE! No hidden fees.

Here is what the checkout looks like on the Bodyline website (in English):

Screen Shot 2014-03-30 at 2.35.41 AM

They split my order into two packages, but they never notified me about this… so when I received the first package, I was concerned that they completely forgot about my boots. I emailed them, and they responded the same day, telling me that the boots were mailed separately.

Timeline:

March 29, 2014 – Placed order with Bodyline, paid via PayPal, and received receipt from PayPal.

March 31, 2014 – Received an email saying that my package has been shipped, and the email provided a tracking number.

April 19, 2014 – Received first package. Reviewed contents and emailed Bodyline asking why the pink boots were missing from the package. A few hours later, I received a response from Bodyline. Here is what they said: “In another bag” … not the most professional response (no greeting, no closing, no punctuation…) but at least it was a fast response.

April 22, 2014 – Received second package (the pink boots).

Bodyline Package 1

The first package, pictured above, contained everything but the pink boots. I was worried when I saw that they mailed everything in a thin package; the package already had a few rips and tears! The white mary-jane shoes were packed in a box, within the overall package, but the box was damaged in the shipping process. The shoes were not damaged, but there was a small scuff. It isn’t too noticeable though. The cosplay came in a protective plastic wrap, and the wristcuffs were squished between the box and the cosplay, but everything was undamaged.

The second package contained the pink boots. The boots did not come with a shoebox.

Bodyline Package 2

The boots were wrapped in bubble-wrap though, so there were no major damages. The packaging was dirty, and it also had a strange smell, but there were no major rips.

Bodyline Pink Boots

I tried on the boots, and they are very true to size! I usually wear size 8.5 (American sizing), so I purchased these boots in size 24.5 (Japanese sizing). The length and width for my feet are fine, and the boots fit my calves as well. There are zippers on the boots too. There are some weird stains on the zippers, but these are not too big of a deal. You can see one of the stains in the bottom-center photo.

The construction for both pairs of shoes are sturdy, and I do not think these shoes will fall apart easily. The zippers on the boots are rather stiff, but this may be because they are brand new boots. The white mary-janes are also true to size.

This experience was not a completely positive one, but I would not hesitate to purchase from Bodyline again if there is another free shipping promotion. (I really love free shipping~!)

Here is my final review for my experience with Bodyline:

Overall: ☆☆☆☆ (Free shipping is one of my favorite things. International shipping is so pricey.)

Ordering Process and Shipping: ☆☆☆ (I am disappointed that Bodyline never told me the order would be split into two packages. )

Communication: ☆☆☆☆ (The response email was quick, even though it was an awkward 3-word email.)

Packaging: ☆☆ (The packaging was disappointing, but it was not terrible.)

Color: ☆☆☆☆☆ (The colors were true to the stock photos! No complaints here.)

Style: ☆☆☆☆ (I don’t have any complaints! The cosplay could have been better, but for the price, it was a good deal.)

Construction: ☆☆☆☆ (I do not see any problems with the construction right now, but I have not worn them much yet. The only item I have worn since this purchase are the white mary-janes. I only tried on the other items.)

We will be Lolita Rappers…

Image

Yesterday, I had the chance to be part of a fun music video parody of “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore… Lolita style! You can watch the music video here. Harmonycloud ran the video-filming event, and she was nice enough to let me crash at her place since it was a long commute for me to get to Boston. I was really happy to see old Lolita friends again, as well as meet some new friends from the Boston community! Everyone was really friendly, and we had fun filming the video, taking photographs, talking about Lolita fashion (and other random topics: from feminism to our futures), and eating a delicious dinner together.

Here is a great photo (by Harmonycloud) of my coordinate:

Image

She even got a candid photo of me fixing my makeup! >w<

Image

I look so serious though… I had no idea she was taking a photo of me at the time! Then again, I took some candid behind-the-scenes photos myself… The Lolitas were wonderful actresses (and dancers)!

DSCN5329

We shot the music video in various places: a local park, in front of various churches, on a staircase up a hill… I was pleased with the locations we found. All the Lolitas present had gorgeous coordinates! From Angelic Pretty to Alice and the Pirates to Haenuli… many brands were represented! And of course, I wore my Bodyline waffle-themed OP (with my new red Bodyline shoes). For this music video, I played the part of the OTT Sweet Lolita.

Image

After we finished filming the music video, we began a new project: a mini Lolita documentary! Harmonycloud asked each of us a few questions and recorded our answers at her apartment. “What does Lolita signify for you?” was one of the questions. When we completed these brief interviews, we went out for a Japanese Barbeque dinner. It was my first time at a BBQ restaurant! The meats and sauces were delicious (and I loved the S’mores for dessert). However, I was not dolled up for dinner since I had partially changed into a cosplay… The story: I was recruited by Harmonycloud to join her My Little Pony photoshoot, but I will not be able to go to the photoshoot event next week. So, the solution was to take photos of me in my cosplay right after the Lolita rap video.

My Applejack (MLP) Cosplay!

I cannot wait to see the photos from this photoshoot, and I look forward to seeing the other girls’ My Little Pony cosplays. ❤ I am sure they will all be amazing!
