LemonyLemon: Rings

LemonyLemon, an Etsy store run by Emma Lehmann, was kind enough to sponsor a batch of adorable rings!

Emma mailed me a package via International AirMail. This bubble mailer kept all the rings safe during their international travel!

Here is the bundle I found inside the mailer:

DSC_2167_Fotor_Collage As you can see, the bubble wrap and plastic bag keep all the rings in one place. Emma said you can use the coupon code “ALICE15” when you shop at LemonyLemon~! Don’t miss out on this great deal. Anyone is welcome to use this code.

I was very pleased with the care Emma took to wrap her products. Each individual ring was wrapped in tissue paper. This is the first time I have seen someone do this! Nothing came damaged.

all the rings

These rings are so colorful and each piece is unique! The pastel rings would be perfect for sweet lolita and fairy kei, and the gold rose ring would be lovely for gothic lolita and classic lolita. I love the details on the cookie rings! These rings would also look super cute with casual wear.

Now, onto how I styled these rings… I chose a few pastel rings to wear with a sweet lolita coordinate.

beauty

The pastel rings, especially the sweets rings, match the OTT sweet lolita aesthetic so well~! I really love the rings’ combination of pastel colors and bold colors. The pink bow ring has a really cute purple detailed band that makes it stand out. I think that one is one of my favorite rings!

All of the rings are adjustable, which is great. You can bend the bands to fit your fingers. My fibers are really skinny, so unfortunately, most of the rings were loose. They fit on my thumbs, but I don’t like wearing rings on my thumbs. Wearing them on my other fingers was fine; I just had to be careful. If I waved my hand too enthusiastically, the rings would fly off. But these rings are really sturdy! When the rings fell off and hit the ground, they didn’t break.

hey

I am really impressed by how well-crafted these rings are. I was really scared that they would break after smashing into the ground, but everything was in tact and the band was easy to bend back into a circle.

I used the gold rose ring as part of my Saturday coordinate for RuffleCon:

I already had a black rose ring from Forever21, so the gold rose ring was a lovely addition to my coord. I love the cute band on this gold ring!~ It’s in the same style as the pink bow ring.

Today, I decided to wear the remaining three LemonyLemon rings that I had not used in a coordinate yet. Instead of lolita fashion, I decided to try something different! I wanted something fun and more casual, but still cute. I also tried something new with my makeup.

Check out how cute this bunny ring is:

Here is some extra info that Emma would like me to share with you all:

“I can do custom orders for nails and some accessories (I’ve done a few custom orders, such as 3D nails, a hair ribbon in a different colour, and earrings in different colour combos), so requests are always welcome. There’s not really an interesting back-story unfortunately, I started off doing nails as a hobby and people really liked them so I started up an Etsy store, which then eventually led to making clay charms, hair accessories, and some deco-den type of items. Things are just a tad slow at the moment due to my personal life, but I’m hoping to get more time in the near future to make more items and refurbish my store (ie. New logo and such).”

TeaCupCastle: Stormborn Claw Necklace

Today I am going to review a lovely necklace for you all: the Stormborn Claw Necklace from the Etsy shop TeaCupCastle. TeaCupCastle has a variety of handmade jewelry using vintage findings.

The Stormborn Claw Necklace is inspired by Daenerys Targaryen (one of my favorite characters from Game of Thrones!!). If you love Game of Thrones, you should check out TeaCupCastle’s other Game of Thrones-inspired jewelry, like the Night’s Watch Ring and the Lannister Lion Crest Pin.

Now, onto the review!

TeaCupCastle

TeaCupCastle mailed out the package in a bubble mailer. The mailer arrived completely in-tact, with no tears at all. Inside the mailer was a coupon, a business card, and a box sealed with cute tape. The necklace was safely nestled inside the box on a fluffy bed. The pendant was even tucked inside a small plastic bag for added protection!

I love this necklace and hope to wear it many times in the future.

For this sponsored review, I incorporated the necklace into a lolita coordinate. I love how it looks with the gothic lolita aesthetic!

Here is the coordinate rundown:

Necklace: Tea Cup Castle

Hair accessories: Offbrand

Blouse: Metamorphose

JSK: Chess Story

Socks and Boots: Offbrand

Rings: Offbrand

NECKLACE

The pendant orb of this necklace is a gorgeous deep purple that seems to change color slightly, depending on the lighting. Sometimes, it looks so dark that it is almost black, and other times, it looks like a vibrant shade of purple. Upon close observation, I noticed bits of green that slithers its way around the orb. The green is not too noticeable from a distance, but up close, it looks really cool. It reminds me of a mystical planet or (dare I say it…?) a dragon egg! I can just imagine the orb cracking along the green veins.

DSC_2157 Final verdict on this necklace: ☆☆☆☆☆ out of ☆☆☆☆☆ ! I have no complaints whatsoever. The necklace is easy to wear, everything is well-constructed and sturdy, and it’s truly beautiful. This necklace works wonderfully for lolita fashion, but it would also be easy to incorporate into other fashion styles and even casual wear. The necklace would really stand out against a plain t-shirt, for example!

You should all check out TeaCupCastle for awesome jewelry and more~! If you want to make a purchase, feel free to use the following coupon code for 15% off: “XOXO15”

My friend Terry let me borrow her offbrand umbrella! I love how her umbrella has cute ruffled detailing along the edges.

LBC: Your First Lolita Item

lbc

I talked about my first lolita item in a previous Lolita Blog Carnival post, back in September 2013.

tumblr_mc59ywaZ1m1qd1v3ro3_500

My first lolita item, ever, was a Bodyline JSK that my mother purchased for me as a belated birthday present when we were at an anime convention. This was back when I was in high school. I had been obsessing over lolita fashion, and my mother knew all about it. We are really close, and we share many of the same interests (anime, manga, horror movies, and martial arts, to name a few).

253020_4479921003532_794493374_n

I have considered selling the JSK before, but I do not want to let it go because I feel attached to it since it is my first lolita item, and it has sentimental value since it holds some memories that my mother and I shared.

Since I already talked about this dress before, how about I talk about some other Lolita “first’s?” My first Lolita brand item! My first Lolita brand-name item that I purchased was a BTSSB skirt from a local community member. It’s a pretty pink-and-brown skirt with a partially shirred waistband! Unfortunately, I sold this skirt when I was in need of some money, so I no longer own this item. The name for this skirt is “Chocolat à La Mode.”

heart

I miss this skirt though! I love the three layers of frills, and the cute bow on the side. ❤ So adorable! It’s also a very light fabric.

The first lolita brand dress that I purchased was also a BTSSB item! I bought the BTSSB Dreamy Pony high-waisted JSK and head bow set from the EGL Comm Sales, using a payment plan. The seller was very understanding and allowed me to pay in increments. I love the Dreamy Pony print! So sweet… I love all the pastel colors.

Above is a photo of me and my friend wearing Sweet Lolita. This was the first time that I wore my first brand JSK! To be honest, I don’t think the high-waist style suits me very well, but I still love this JSK. I also wore this JSK and headbow again recently, for the ConBust 2014 Lolita Fashion 101 panel.

Sorry about the terrible lighting!

Presentation time: At the panel!

Our Lolita Fashion 101 panel had a great turnout! I am really happy that I was able to run this panel again this year.

I find it very interesting that my first-first lolita item was a gothic (or possibly dark punk) item, and my other first lolita items are all sweet lolita items. What were your first lolita items? If you do not own any lolita items yet, are there first items you are looking forward to purchasing?
