LBC: Disney Coordinates

Image

This week was finals week for me, and I still have more academic work to complete today… But I could not resist participating in this week’s Lolita Blog Carnival! Unfortunately, I do not have much time since it is finals week, so I apologize for any misspellings or grammatical errors in this post. (I’m rushing to write this up in half an hour or less!)

Now onto the Disney coordinates!

As Alice in Lolitaland, I have to try an Alice coordinate right? Recently, I wore a coordinate inspired by Disney’s Alice in Wonderland when I went to the cinema to see the new Captain America movie. I used Bodyline’s Alice print JSK in the pink x blue color way. I paired this JSK with my Chocomint Tea Time hair clip and a handmade Alice bow. I was also wearing a Bodyline blouse and Bodyline shoes… (Lots of Bodyline in this coordinate!) My knee socks are offbrand. I did not wear any jewelry with this coordinate because I was in a rush and did not have time to pick any out. Unfortunately, I took off my wrist cuffs before leaving my dormitory because it was really cold out and I did not want to damage the wrist cuffs when I took my winter jacket on and off. My lolita big sister Terry gave me these wrist cuffs, so it would be a shame if they got damaged! Terry got the wrist cuffs from Classical Puppets (Taobao).

Here are some close-up selfies (you can see the cute wrist cuff in the second pic!):

For my makeup look, I used pressed powder foundation, a shimmery highlighter, neutral eyeshadow, black eyeliner, and lipstick. I did not bother wearing false lashes for this look, and I did not wear any blush either. I am happy with the way my makeup turned out though! It’s simple, but it was also very comfortable. I forgot I was wearing makeup!

The next Disney coordinate I will talk about is a tentative idea for a future coordinate, also featuring a Bodyline JSK! This coordinate uses another Disney-inspired Bodyline print: Cinderella Bunny! I am not sure if this is the proper name for the print, but that is what I call it. I have this dress in the red colorway. Red is my favorite color, so I hope to acquire lots of red pieces. ❤

In addition to what is seen above, I would add pearl earrings, a pearl bracelet, white stockings, and red Bodyline tea party-style shoes. If I am chilly, I will wear my sax-colored Bodyline bunny sweatshirt (to go with the bunny Cinderella theme). I think this is one of my favorite Bodyline prints, and I’m really happy I was able to snag it from the community sales!

I apologize again for the disorganized and rushed blog post!

LBC: Your First Lolita Item

lbc

I talked about my first lolita item in a previous Lolita Blog Carnival post, back in September 2013.

My first lolita item, ever, was a Bodyline JSK that my mother purchased for me as a belated birthday present when we were at an anime convention. This was back when I was in high school. I had been obsessing over lolita fashion, and my mother knew all about it. We are really close, and we share many of the same interests (anime, manga, horror movies, and martial arts, to name a few).

I have considered selling the JSK before, but I do not want to let it go because I feel attached to it since it is my first lolita item, and it has sentimental value since it holds some memories that my mother and I shared.

Since I already talked about this dress before, how about I talk about some other Lolita “first’s?” My first Lolita brand item! My first Lolita brand-name item that I purchased was a BTSSB skirt from a local community member. It’s a pretty pink-and-brown skirt with a partially shirred waistband! Unfortunately, I sold this skirt when I was in need of some money, so I no longer own this item. The name for this skirt is “Chocolat à La Mode.”

I miss this skirt though! I love the three layers of frills, and the cute bow on the side. ❤ So adorable! It’s also a very light fabric.

The first lolita brand dress that I purchased was also a BTSSB item! I bought the BTSSB Dreamy Pony high-waisted JSK and head bow set from the EGL Comm Sales, using a payment plan. The seller was very understanding and allowed me to pay in increments. I love the Dreamy Pony print! So sweet… I love all the pastel colors.

Above is a photo of me and my friend wearing Sweet Lolita. This was the first time that I wore my first brand JSK! To be honest, I don’t think the high-waist style suits me very well, but I still love this JSK. I also wore this JSK and headbow again recently, for the ConBust 2014 Lolita Fashion 101 panel.

Presentation time: At the panel!

Our Lolita Fashion 101 panel had a great turnout! I am really happy that I was able to run this panel again this year.

I find it very interesting that my first-first lolita item was a gothic (or possibly dark punk) item, and my other first lolita items are all sweet lolita items. What were your first lolita items? If you do not own any lolita items yet, are there first items you are looking forward to purchasing?

LBC: What’s Next On Your Lolita Wishlist?

lbc

What’s next on my Lolita wishlist…? Well, this is a rather difficult question! My variety of interest is not just descriptive of the general plane; I also have a variety of Lolita styles that I am interested in. From sweet to gothic, I love them all! I have a list of Lolita dream dresses, but to be honest, I do not know if I will ever be able to claim them as my own. My dream dresses are “dream” dresses because they seem out-of-reach (and yes, I sometimes dream or day-dream about them). They seem unattainable due to their rarity or due to how expensive they are. (Sometimes, I find them for sale, but the sellers raise the prices… a lot. More than I can afford. And even if I could afford them, I would feel guilty paying that much money for one dress.)

In any case, I am not focusing my attention on one dream dress as my next target on my Lolita wishlist. I have a Lolita wishlist, but my dream dresses are not the only items on it. I also have what I call my “realistic” wishes: things that I want and can afford, and so, I add them to my wishlist. Some of these are not specific items, but desires for a type of item. Here are some examples of what I mean: a black loliable vest, a princess-sleeved blouse, a dress with a forest theme, a dress with a trump theme, a simple long-sleeved OP. As you can see, these items do not designate a brand, so I can fulfill my wishes for these items as long as I find something that fits the description, and  that discovered item also fits my budget and my tastes! So if I like the item, it’s a good deal, and it’s possible for me to purchase it, then I can check that thing off my list!

Now back to the Lolita Blog Carnival question: What’s Next On Your Lolita Wishlist? The next target on my lolita wish list is a trump-themed skirt. That has at least partial shirring (and that will hopefully fit me comfortably).

I have my eyes set on the Angelic Pretty Royal Cards skirt:

I spotted this skirt recently on Mbok, and so, I could not resist placing a bid on it. If I do not win the auction, I will still look for it. My favorite color way for AP’s Royal Cards Skirt is black, picture above. If I see a similar trump-themed skirt, even if it is not exactly the same, I will still be open to bidding on it or purchasing it (if it is within my budget). I just love the trump motif so much~! (And also, I really want a nice trump-themed skirt to wear with my trump-themed socks from the Metamorphose lucky pack!)

What is on your Lolita wishlist? Is there anything you are dying to purchase?
