Winter International Lolita Day 2017

Winter International Lolita Day 2017 took place on Saturday, December 2 this year. I figured I would write a post about this before 2017 ends since it was a fantastic day! It was my first time truly twinning too… I’ve never twinned with a print before!

The night before the meetup, I was last-minute coord-ing (at past midnight). You can see my full planning photos on Tumblr.

Me and Victoria of ParfaitDoll twinned in Powder Rose: same colorway, but different dresses. I love this Angelic Pretty print, and was really happy when I was able to purchase it secondhand from a friend!

There were a bunch of different meetups happening in NYC for International Lolita Day, but I attended the meet that was at Sweet Time Dessert Cafe in West Village. It was such a cute location for International Lolita Day! Powder Rose fit right in at home.

Everyone there adored the rose wall. The desserts all looked so cute too! I had the mousse dessert shaped like a heart (and we called it the “butt” because it also looks like a peach… or a butt). The bubble tea was delicious too! I actually had two bubble teas: a jasmine green tea with peach bubbles one, and a Thai tea one with brown sugar bubbles.

If I had more money, I would have bought more desserts for myself. I wanted to try all the desserts there… Even though I only got one dessert, Victoria and I took bites of each other’s treats too! Her roll dessert was really cute!

It was really cold outside (in my opinion), so I regret not wearing my trusty old L.L. Bean winter jacket like I always wear in the wintertime. The reason I opted out of that jacket is because it’s solid black (and not loliable at all), so I wanted to wear a sweet style coat. The coat I chose to wear was this short coat from Liz Lisa.

It’s really cute, and I love the bows on it! It’s not very warm though… And I was wearing so many layers that day to make up for it. Thermal shirt, thermal tights, regular tights, knee-high fleece socks, a long-sleeved blouse, my huge multi-layer Classical Puppets petticoat… And my wig counts as an additional layer, right?

Luckily, it was nice and cozy inside the dessert cafe. The giant bear by the window at the cafe was the most popular…! Everyone wanted photos with him.

Below, you’ll see a cute photo collage Christina made of me and Victoria and our adventures at the meetup. The last panel is my favorite one! Victoria was complaining about terrible customer service at a nail salon she had tried. Her face is perfection.

It was super fun to twin, and I hope I can find someone to twin with again! This meetup was super fun, although it ended in pain and tragedy: both soles of my Bodyline boots came off. First, the right side. And then later on, the left side. It was really difficult to walk, but I was able to make it back home somehow. I’ll probably try to glue the soles back on and then minimize wearing them. (Maybe just wear them for shoots?) I’ve had similar negative experiences with Bodyline shoes so I’m hesitant to buy them again.

[LBC] 2017 Lolita Resolutions

Time for some Lolita resolutions! To be honest, I still need to figure out my 2017 resolutions (in general). So far, the only general resolution I have is to be healthier and try to get more sleep.

Resolution: EAT ALL THE DESSERTS (just kidding but I’ll probably eat lots of sweets anyways)

Luckily, Lolita resolutions are somewhat easier to write.

Wear Lolita at least once a month! I definitely want to get back into this habit of mine that I had during college. I remember sometimes I would wear Lolita weekly! I definitely want to get more use out of the pieces in my wardrobe.
Sell pieces that I don’t see myself wearing. I have a bad habit of being a packrat… Not just when it comes to Lolita. I’m a packrat in general. I don’t like letting things go. If they don’t fit me anymore, I’ll donate them. But for items I like, I always hang onto them even if I barely wear them. I really need to look at my lolita wardrobe and try to give away or sell pieces that I don’t see myself wearing. Even if I love the item, that doesn’t mean I should keep hging on to it. (Especially since I love almost EVERYTHING.) One thing that will make this resolution difficult is the fact that I do not have access to a printer… Also the post office is so much more inconvenient now than it was when I was in college. No more nice campus post office. 😦 And for those who know me IRL, you’ll know the extreme stress the post office has given me ever since I moved.
Meet more Lolitas! I really want to meet more Lolita friends, both online and offline. I find that I tend to lurk in the Lolita community online, but I’d love to talk to and interact with more Lolitas.
Wear some more casual Lolita coordinates. Again, I wore Lolita more often at college, and therefore, more types of coords emerged. I want to wear more casual Lolita coords and also wear my Punk Lolita pieces more often. Hopefully I can move my whole wardrobe to me soon (although I have no idea how they’ll all fit in my puny room but I’ll figure something out).
Get some more jewelry/accessories? I feel like I’ve been re-using the same jewelry and accessories over and over and over. Which is fine with me, since I love the ones I have, but I should spice things up a bit. The issue is budgeting and saving up so I can get some more Lolita things to add to my wardrobe. I haven’t purchased anything in 2017 yet, which is good since the year just started. I’m paying off medical bills at the moment due to lots of recent health issues/procedures, so hopefully I won’t be struggling in future months. January started out as a big roller coaster ride.

[LBC] Dream Dress Coord

One of my dream prints is Day Dream Carnival, and I was lucky enough to acquire this print in my preferred colorway last year! My dream dress was the JSK in sax blue, but I couldn’t find one that I could afford. I first acquired the headbow in sax. And then eventually, I found the salopette and tights at a great deal. I had never worn a salopette before, so I was worried, but I’m so happy I got it! I would still like to own the JSK someday (maybe I could try to trade the salopette for the JSK?), but for now, I’m pleased that I have this salopette.

I don’t own any of the above items, but I think they’re all absolutely gorgeous and would go perfectly with my dream dress! I chose lots of pink to offset the dominant sax blue color of the JSK, and I picked gold shoes (and some gold-tone jewelry) to bring out the gold details of the JSK. And of course, I need to include pony motifs in the jewelry!~
