Review: Evil Live Heart Bags

[Review: Positive]
I purchased two of Evil Live’s heart bags when they were first released, since my local lolita community conducted a group order for them during the Christmas time discount special. At first, I was not sure if I wanted to buy the bags or not since I did not know what the quality would be like. In addition, I have never heard of “Evil Live” before. Once I decided to commit to the group order, I had to choose how many bags I wanted to purchase and which colorways to pick. This was a difficult decision because I did not want to buy two and end up disliking them, or on the other hand, buy just one and then regretting the choice if I love the bag.
There are four colors in this first-release series: BlackHolic, Misty Cream, Strawberry Sherbet Pink, and Merlot Wine.
After much internal debate, I chose to buy one bag in the wine colorway and one bag in the cream colorway. The wine bag has a shiny patent finish, and the cream bag has a matte finish. The official colorway names are “Merlot Wine” and “Misty Cream.” Aren’t the names cute? >w<
Overall, I am very happy with the bags’ colors and sizing, as well as construction quality. Each bag is very roomy and comes with interchangeable straps and handles. You can wear the bag as a backpack, use it as a purse with two handles or with one handle, or you can wear it like an over-the-shoulder bag. The bag also has a pocket on the outside and pockets on the inside. The bow on the outside of the bag feels sturdy and well-constructed.
Here are two exterior photos and two interior photos of the Merlot Wine bag:
The Misty Cream bag looks the same, construction-wise.

I think I like the matte finish better than the shiny finish! But both of the bags are so nice. ^-^ I tested the zippers, and they seem to be of high quality too. The zippers did not catch or get stuck at all.

Each bag also comes with these handle sets. Look at that cute handle with the little bows! ❤ So adorable! Also, I love the little heart details on the bags themselves… Those little accents make the bag even nicer.
The Evil Live manager even included a cute hand-written note on a postcard and some free gifts inside each of the bags!

Here is my final review for the Evil Live Heart Bags:

Overall: ☆☆☆☆☆ (I love these two bags so much! I can’t wait to actually use them. <3)

Ordering Process and Shipping: ☆☆☆ (N/A: Since I joined a group order, I was not the one to take on the actual ordering of the bags. The person running the group order placed the order in December. The shipping for the wine bag took a while due to a factory delay. Note that the bags were shipped to the group order leader, and then I picked up the bags in person, in February.)

Communication: ☆☆☆☆ (On the postcard, the Evil Live manager provided an email. When I emailed the manager, I received a quick reply! The manager is very sweet and polite.)

Packaging: ☆☆☆☆ (The bags were stuffed with Korean newspapers to help them hold their shape, and the straps/handles were all inside the bags as well. The bags were wrapped and taped in bubble wrap. The packaging was nice, but there were some slight dents on the bag’s surface from the mailing process. This is very minor though, and not a problem!)

Color: ☆☆☆☆☆ (The colors were true to the stock photos! I am pleased.)

Style: ☆☆☆☆☆ (These bags are so cute! I love the heart detailing.)

Construction: ☆☆☆☆☆ (I do not see any problems with the construction. I love how roomy these bags are!)

(☆ = Most negative/Not good at all, ☆☆ = Not that good, but okay ☆☆☆ = Neutral/No opinion/No answer, ☆☆☆☆ = Great, ☆☆☆☆☆ = Most positive/Fantastic!)

Classical Puppets A-Line Petticoat Review!

And here comes the review. 🙂

I purchased this petticoat from the Taobao store Classical Puppets in the color white. When I opened up my Taobao package and saw the Classical Puppets petticoat squished into a plastic bag about 6 inches long, I thought to myself, Oh no… this can’t be good. It looks so… tiny.

But I was in for a pleasant surprise! When I tore open the plastic packaging and took out the petticoat, the whole thing floofed out immediately. It was definitely a huge poofy fluff monster upon opening the package. I was rather intimidated to be honest, but also relieved that it wasn’t as tiny as it looked in the plastic bag.

Since it is an A-line petticoat, I assume it will look awkward with skirts meant for cupcake-shaped petticoats. However, I think the A-line petticoat is pretty versatile. (And if I need a cupcake petticoat, I think I’ll stick to layering the two cheap petticoats I already have. This method seemed to work for my past coord attempts. I don’t think I’ll be investing in another petticoat for a while.)

Last weekend, I had a friend snap some photos of me with and without the Classical Puppets petticoat to show the before and after effects. I apologize up front for the awkward and hasty coords (I didn’t have much time but knew I would have even less time as the month trudged on, so I quickly threw on clothes for the purpose of this review). I did not wear any makeup and I didn’t style my hair, oops.

Here is an example of a skirt (light fabric; I think it’s chiffon with lining) without a petticoat:

And here I am with the Classical Puppets A-Line petticoat:

I also tried on a heavy JSK to see if the petticoat would still provide a nice poof for the silhouette.

Here is a picture of me wearing a heavy velvet JSK without a petticoat:

I really love the look! The petticoat still poofs out nicely in an A-line shape despite the heavy velvet fabric. I think this petticoat will be a nice versatile one. 🙂 I might experiment with layering in the future to see if I can use this petticoat with a light shorter one on top to simulate a cupcake shape. For now though, I’m really happy with this petticoat all on its own. It’s really poofy, and I am currently storing it stuffed into a bag. But I take it out to check on it sometimes, and it poofs out again naturally. I don’t know why it does that, but I’m not going to complain. ^-^

OVERALL REVIEW: 5/5 – Comfy elastic waistband, many layers of fluff, soft fabric, great poof, retains shape very well, great construction

All in all, I’m really happy with this new petticoat! If anyone has any questions about this petticoat, my Taobao experience, or my Lolita coords, feel free to ask me!

I really hope I can build up my Lolita wardrobe to the point where I can wear it often. (My dream is to be able to wear Lolita fashion every day. ❤ I love it so much!) At the moment, my goal is to dress in Lolita fashion at least once a month, even if it is just a casual coord. It’s difficult at the moment though, due to long classes and Kpop dance rehearsals. But I’ll find a way, at least once a month! (Once a month is not often at all either… So I’m sure I can do this.)

Thank you for reading. ❤
