Le Premier Meeting Lolita à Paris

DSCN9995 Cet évènement, qui s’appelle “Meeting avec Li-Li (et 39 ans de la vieille Mimi),” était génial ! // This event, which was for my first time attending a Parisian lolita meetup as well as celebrating Mimi’s birthday, was awesome!

(Photo credit: Ercylla)

I wanted to make this post bilingual, but I’m rather stressed out with financial aid applications and academic work… so I’m going to write in English from here on out. If you want to see the above paragraph translated into English, just let me know and I will be glad to edit in the translation at a later time. ^_^ DSCN9975 The lolita meetup was a tea party at the Hyatt Paris Madeleine on Saturday, April 4. There were four types of green tea: matcha, sencha, genmaicha, and houjicha. And of course, there were some adorable little pastries to eat! Here was the menu:

• Deux tranches de moelleux roll cakes

• Petits sablés

• Toads : petites tartelettes façon crumble à la vanille, au yuzu ou au chocolat

DSCN9972

Don’t they look adorable? They were so tasty too… If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the vanilla toad!

Now, let’s talk about the general experience I had that afternoon. First off, everyone looked so gorgeous at the tea party! I loved seeing all the coordinates… And I realized how much I really missed lolita. It was amazing to finally see gorgeous dresses and coordinates in person. We had a good mix of different styles: gothic to classic to sweet. And we also had a variety of brands! From Bodyline to Moi Même Moitié to BTSSB … and even a 100% handmade lolita coordinate! I was impressed by everyone’s outfits.

The lolitas were also all very friendly, and I did not feel left out or awkward even though the only person I knew beforehand was Camille. I was so shocked by the compliments I received; quite a few people said I spoke French well. I really love the French language but feel like I struggle with it a lot… so hearing this meant a lot to me! I plan to declare French as my second major this fall. 🙂

This was also my first time print-twinning in Lolita! Camille’s ultimate dream dress is Midsummer Night’s Dream, so she owns several pieces from the collection. I wore the ivory set, and she wore the black set. ^_^ It was so nice of her to let me wear her dream dress for the tea party! (I also absolutely love bonnets… I need to buy a bonnet of my own at some point. This bonnet was so much fun to wear! It was comfortable too.)

After the tea party, a few of us went to Princess Crêpe, a crêperie owned by Baby the Stars Shine Bright Paris.

DSCN0002

I had a matcha green tea ice cream crêpe! If you’ve been here, let me know what your favorite crêpe was. I loved it so much that I went back on Wednesday. xD On Wednesday, I had a caramel ice cream cheesecake crêpe.

If I have time, I will write some more posts about Spring Break and possibly other aspects of travel! I made a new category for my blog, “Travel,” and I added my previous Paris lolita blog post to the category (from two years ago… my first time studying in Paris!). To be honest, I also have some old drafts of posts I haven’t finished… So I might work on those and post them (even if they will be belated posts). But better late than never, right? I’ll try to post them for a “Throwback Thursday” or something so they don’t seem completely out of the blue. Thanks for reading!

(Et MERCI BEAUCOUP à Camille pour m’a prêtée sa belle tenue de Midsummer Night’s Dream !)

Penny Dreads: Miss Tea Wig

Penny Dreads, my latest wig sponsor, sent me the Miss Tea wig in Black/Gold for review! This split wig is super cute and easy to manage! In addition to full wigs, Penny Dreads sells half wigs, dreads, and hair extensions. If you’re interested in buying something from Penny Dreads, be sure to use the coupon code “XIAORAWR” for 10% off! They mailed the wig to me via USPS Priority Mail: DSC_0103 This bubble mailer was sturdy and kept everything undamaged. Penny Dreads sent me really cute business cards along with the wig! The wig itself was perfectly packaged, inside a nice plastic bag with a Penny Dreads brand stick in the corner. DSC_0108 The wig came with scrunched up paper inside the wig to keep the head’s shape, and a hair net around the entire wig. This way, the curls stayed perfect, with no tangles in sight. Take a look at the photo below for with flash versus without flash views of the wig. DSC_0110_Fotor_Collage_Fotor As you can see, there isn’t a big difference in color depending on flash or no flash. Either way, the wig looks great! The golden blonde color is rich and I believe it will be flattering on many skin tones. Same goes for the black color! I love the split-wig design, especially since there is some blending of the fibers in the middle so it isn’t a stark change from one color to the next. You can brush and style the bangs in different ways to get different looks, and you can also brush out the curls for a more dramatic look if you would like! The wig fibers are thick and soft, so I am sure they will take well to styling.

Now, let’s take a look at what this wig looks like on me. DSC_0046 I think this wig is perfect for lolita fashion! The split-color trend is super cute. The black/gold combination of this Miss Tea wig makes it perfect for a variety of different styles. You can pair it with a gothic lolita look, as I did, but you could also pair it with a sweet lolita look! I can just imagine this wig paired with a cute tea time-themed lolita print. You can also wear this wig for other alternative styles. I think it would be really cool with a cyberpunk outfit! And this wig would also be really cute with a rokku gear coordinate. DSC_0095 You could also wear this wig casually, just for fun! This wig will make any outfit unique. You can pair it with your favorite graphic t-shirt, with a cute summer dress, or even with jeans and a comfy top. This wig is really easy to wear, and it fits my head perfectly: not too loose, not too tight. There are elastics and hooks in the back of the wig so you can adjust the head circumference if needed. Here is a back-view photo of the worn wig: DSC_0073

Be sure to check out my Facebook album featuring this beautiful Miss Tea wig in Black/Gold. I’ll add more photos to it over time, so like my page to see more photos! I also used this wig for other sponsored product styling, so you’ll see this wig pop up again in future reviews. I highly recommend Penny Dreads as a wig company! They have great customer service too; they respond promptly to all of my emails. Give their Facebook page a like, and check out their Instagram and Twitter.

Reminder: If you buy something from Penny Dreads, use the coupon code “XIAORAWR” for 10% off!

I hope you enjoyed reading my review of this lovely wig! I can’t wait to see what other wigs Penny Dreads will release. They are a very promising company. ^_^

Review: Sweet Pink Dreams

Sweet Pink Dreams sent me a package of lovely items! You should check out their shop for cute items~! They sell kawaii handmade accessories as well as new and pre-owned Japanese stationery. They even sell awesome false lashes!

The package I received in the mail looked like simple brown packaging, but when I opened the outer layer, I found a Priority Mail bubble mailer. Even though the outside layer got dirty during transit, the Priority Mail mailer was a clean inner layer that protected the contents well.

DSC_0032_Fotor_Collage

Inside the Priority Mail package was another layer of protection: a cute plastic bag with a spider print!

Here are the contents of the bag:

The package included two jumbo puffy hair bows, two sets of eyelashes, one bat necklace, two sweets rings, and one twin-star brooch.

Here are the two sets of false lashes:
DSC_0040

They are both really cute! I love the designs~! I usually prefer dramatic spiky lashes over the simple one-length lashes.

Here are the rings:

DSC_0043

They’re both covered in a glaze of glitter! So they’re sparkly and shiny. I think they’re both cute jumbo rings that would work well with sweet lolita or fairy kei (or just casually when you want to add some cuteness to your outfit!).

Check out these cute accessories:

DSC_0044

They both remind me of cookies! The twin-star brooch has rhinestone details and an adorable string of pastel faux pearls. The bat pendant is a vibrant lime green and the necklace chain has miniature stone beads accenting the area near the pendant. Both the brooch and the necklace pendant are covered in glitter! The glitter didn’t shed too much, which is great; I think the glitter will stay on even if you wear the accessories for long periods of time.

Here is a photo of the two bows with flash:

And without flash:

DSC_0047

The bows are both very puffy, and they feel soft, not hard. The clips in the back are sturdy and attached securely to the bows. I love these bows!

SweetPinkDreamsIf I had to choose my favorite item out of this lot, it would be the bow I wore for the above look. Take a look at Sweet Pink Dreams; I’m sure you’ll find things you like! Check out my Facebook album for photos of these products.
