My First Lucky Pack

Sorry about the brief hiatus; I have been so busy with school and such. Finally, I can tell you about my first Lucky Pack! I was lucky enough to join a group order for the Metamorphose Winter Lucky Pack (2013/2014). I have never purchased a Lucky Pack before because I was always nervous about getting items that I disliked or did not fit me. (And I do not think I am very lucky… I almost never win raffles, giveaways, and the blind bags I have purchased in the past have been disappointing.)

In any case, I do not regret getting the Meta Lucky Pack! My friend Emily ordered three Lucky Packs (total cost: 34,300 yen), and then we split up the items among us. There were three of us, so we each got a full Lucky Pack in the end, but we mixed and matched items to best suit our tastes.

The tote bag that I got!

All three of us got the same exact white blouse, but we each got different skirts and accessories.

Here is what I got:

I love this skirt!

I love this skirt!

  • A beautiful bordeaux skirt with an all-over print and a lace trim.

All three of the skirts had the same exact lace trim. My friend Emily observed that none of the skirts have a border print or border detail, other than the lace trim. Perhaps the skirts were made with surplus fabric. All three of the skirts have fully elastic waistbands. In my opinion, this is great because the skirts will fit a wide range of sizes (and I can eat lots of food when I wear this skirt!).

  • A white blouse.

I have not tried on this blouse yet, but my friend Lisa told me that the fabric is quite sheer. So I think this blouse would work well under a JSK, but it may not be so great with a skirt unless I wear a camisole under or a vest on top (or both). I wish the fabric was more opaque! The style looks very nice and versatile though; I think this blouse would work for a variety of lolita substyles.

  • A black bow hair barrette.
  • A crown cameo necklace.
  • Black socks with a trump-themed print.

I love these socks but I have no idea how to coordinate them yet. XD I really want a trump-themed skirt or dress to go with these socks. I think I can coordinate these socks with a plain black skirt and black blouse though, if I use some red and gold accessories.

  • A zippered cream tote bag

Lolita Blog Carnival: 3 Prints in Your Favourite Colorway

lbc

This week’s prompt seems rather ambiguous. Am I supposed to select a favorite colorway and show three prints in this colorway? Or am I supposed to choose three prints to examine and choose my favorite colorway for each of these prints? For this week, I decided to go with the first interpretation of the prompt. If this prompt ever comes up again, I will choose the latter interpretation.

My favorite colorway, in general, is red! (This makes sense, since my favorite color is red…) I will choose one skirt, one JSK, and one OP to talk about in this response. All of them will be in red colorways, but different shades of red! Here are three prints I love in the color red:

☆ Bodyline’s Magical Cosmetics Skirt in Red

This print does not have a true red color, but a lovely rich wine color. I love the contrast of the ribbons and pearls in the print against the wine red backdrop. The sax blue, white, pink, and gold details in the print look aesthetically pleasing to me alongside the rich wine hue. Even though I dislike butterflies, I don’t mind the butterfly motif on this skirt’s print.

☆ AATP’s Vampire Requiem Corset JSK in Red

One of my favorite color combinations is red x black, and this dream dress of mine has a lovely red color in the background of the print… along with lovely black details (like the lace trim and the black in the print)! I am so in love with this Gothic Lolita dress. I hope that I will be able to attain this beautiful JSK someday.

☆ AP’s Candy Fun Fair OP in Red

Candy Fun Fair is such a fun print, but I think it looks most festive in its red colorway. The white bodice with the red bows is just too cute! I love the mini puffed sleeves of this OP, and the tiered skirt gives this dress a lovely shape. There is also cute candy-themed lace along the hem of this dress!

What is your favorite lolita colorway? Do you have a favorite print?

The Wonderful World of MBOK

You can find some great deals on Mbok! Mbok is a Japanese online auction site that has a wide variety of items. There are lots of great J-Fashion (including lolita!) items there: you can find dresses, shirts, skirts, pants, jewelry, hair accessories, bags, novelties, and more. If you are not a resident of Japan, you need to use a shopping service to bid on Mbok items. The shopping service I used is Japonica, but there are other shopping services out there.

Searching for specific items on Mbok can be time-consuming, since you have to scroll through different pages, but it is pretty easy to find good deals on brand (and offbrand) items.

I would recommend using the Google Translate extension if you have the Google Chrome web browser. If you do not have Chrome, copying and pasting the Mbok URL into Google Translate works too. Google Translate is not perfect, but it works well enough to help with Mbok navigation.

Check out Mbok’s Alternative/Punk section for lots of lolita items! This is where you will find Angelic Pretty, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, h.NAOTO, Emily Temple Cute, Jane Marple, and more. This section houses lolita, gothic, punk, and other alternative styles.

You can also search for items from a specific brand on Mbok by looking at the brand category. Here are some great links to lolita brand items on Mbok:

Innocent World

Baby the Stars Shine Bright

Angelic Pretty

Metamorphose

Putumayo

Here are links to some great brands that may carry loliable items on Mbok:

Axes Femme – This brand has great cutsews and cute blouses! There are some nice skirts, JSKs, and OPs too (but not all items will accommodate a petticoat). An Axes Femme item was one of my first Mbok purchases!

Liz Lisa – This is a popular Gyaru brand that has some loliable blouses, cardigans, and cutsews.

Tralala – I’m not too familiar with Tralala, but it is one of Liz Lisa’s sister brands. You may be able to find loliable stuff here too!

Jesus Diamante – I’m not too familiar with this brand either, but it’s a popular Hime Gyaru brand and I’ve seen lots of cute loliable coats from them! They also have really cute parkas/sweatshirts.

If you are interested in Gyaru fashion, check out the whole Mbok 109/GAL section. I have not extensively explored this section yet, but there are tons of brands and lots of cute and cool clothes!

If you want to use Mbok’s search feature, here are a few terms you can try:

ロリータ or ロリィタ-  Lolita

姫  –  Princess (Hime)

ワンピース – One Piece (OP)

福袋 – Lucky Pack (Fukubukuro)

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know! I am not an expert, but I can try my best to answer your questions. I hope someone finds this post helpful!

Have fun browsing and shopping~!
