The Face Shop: Ink Graffi Brush Pen Liner Review

My friend Terry bought this eyeliner from The Face Shop for me, so I thought I would write a review for it!

I’ve always had terrible luck finding eyeliners because of my really weird eyelids… They look like monolids, but I do have a crease (but it’s invisible). I’m not sure what the technical term is, but it may be “hooded eyelids.” In any case, my eyes looks like monolids, but whenever I apply eyeliner, I need to make it really thick so it will be visible. If I draw a regular line, once I open my eyes, the line disappears! It’s so frustrating. I know how to make the eyeliner show up: I make a super thick line. But then this causes another issue: when I close my eyes, there’s an awkwardly massive line. It’s really annoying but there’s nothing I can do about it.

Since I have this oddly hidden crease, I’ve always had trouble with pencil eyeliners and liquid eyeliners. For some reason, they always get really smudgy (probably from blinking), and the only eyeliner that I’ve ever had luck with is a cream eyeliner that comes in a jar. The cream eyeliner is really heavy though, so I only use it for photoshoots, dance performances, and cosplay. If I’m putting eyeliner on randomly (just for fun, or for work), then I don’t want to use the cream liner.

During the past semester, I’ve been using this eyeliner for “daily wear.” I don’t wear makeup every day, but sometimes I will wear eyeliner to class if I’m not too tired in the morning.

Pros: dries quickly, great staying power

Cons: not always precise

The Ink Graffi liner is a brush pen liner and it does feel like a pen when I hold it. Drawing the line is pretty easy, but as I explained above, I have to make the line really thick for it to show up. Sometimes, I’ll just do one line and let it be since it’ll show up when I blink or close my eyes. If I want to make a thick line, I have to draw the line a few times, adding more to the top part of the line each time. This liner is easy to use, but sometimes the ink doesn’t run smoothly and I have to go over spots that don’t have ink. The ink dries quickly, which is a plus! After using this eyeliner for the previous months, I have never had any bad side effects or reactions. I have extremely sensitive skin, so I’m glad I didn’t get any irritation from this eyeliner. I’ve had bad reactions from drugstore brands in the past, even reputable brands like Maybelline and Revlon.

This eyeliner holds up really well! When I scattered my grandfather’s ashes last weekend, I basically cried all day. I thought I had made a dreadful mistake by wearing eyeliner in the morning… But at night time, my mom told me that my eyeliner was still black; the only issue was some of it transferred to the area under my eyes, but that transfer was probably caused by me rubbing my eyes with tissues too much. When I looked in the mirror at night, I was surprised to see that the liner was still on the upper lids (and it still looked black!). And the transfer on the bottom wasn’t as terrible as I imagined it would be.

Here is an example of what this eyeliner looks like on me:

tumblr_nupdbdRk911sv3vjto2_1280.jpg

The color is a nice matte black. It’s not the blackest black, but it’s definitely a true black.

Here are my ratings for the Ink Graffi eyeliner from The Face Shop:

Comfort: 5/5 (would definitely recommend for people with sensitive skin!)

Ease of use: 4/5

Color: 4/5

Staying power: 4/5

OVERALL RATING: 4/5

Do you have a favorite eyeliner? Any new eyeliners you want to try?

Photoshoot: Sumiko.Foto at Otakon

At Otakon 2015, I worked with Sumiko.Foto for the first time! I agreed to write a review in exchange for a free photoshoot (and a Free! photoshoot). My first photoshoot with them was on Friday, when I cosplayed Nagisa Hazuki from Free! I cosplay Nagisa to every con I go to, and he’s definitely one of my all-time favorite characters to be! The second shoot with them was on Saturday afternoon, when I cosplayed Kill la Kill with two friends. You can see my Otakon cosplay lineup here! It was a really busy con for me.

First, let’s talk about the Free! shoot!

I met up with Sumiko.Foto on Friday morning by the fountains outside Otakon. There was another cosplayer there, a Gou, and she took photos of both of us at the same time. We got lots of solo shots, and also some group shots. Sumiko.Foto handled it very well, and I didn’t mind sharing the time slot with another cosplayer since the photographer definitely split up the time evenly and everything ran smoothly. As for the end results, both cosplayers got amazing photos! All of the photos on this blog post were taken and edited by Sumiko.Foto ; I did not tamper with the files at all. I’m impressed by the results!

On Saturday afternoon, the Kill la Kill shoot took place! I cosplayed Mako, and my friends cosplayed Ryuko and Satsuki. Unfortunately, I ran late to the photoshoot because my hotel was far away from the con and it was difficult for me to commute back and forth. I had to change to Mako for this shoot, and on my way back to the con from the hotel, I got stuck in traffic. Luckily, things worked out since Ryuko and Satsuki got their solo photos as I was traveling. When I got there, we got to do the group shots!

I got less photos back from this shoot than from the Free! shoot, but I don’t mind since the photos still look great. It was also more difficult to get great photos from the second shoot since we were in direct sunlight most of the time, and the area on top of the fountains was crowded and busy.

It’s too bad there are random passerbys in some of these photos, but that couldn’t be avoided. Otakon was definitely one of the most crowded cons I’ve ever been to… There were so many people everywhere!

My friends agreed that this photoshoot was fun, so we were all happy with the experience. Thank you for shooting us, Sumiko.Foto!

Born Pretty Store: Creepy & Cute

Hi everyone! I am excited to share my second review for Born Pretty Store with you all. You may remember my first review post for their Cat Ear Headband and Chain Hair Comb. You can use the 10% off coupon code “WUT10″ if you make a purchase from Born Pretty Store! unnamed This time around, I’m going to review a new batch of items:

All the sponsored products arrived in a padded mailer. The customs declaration said “Electronic,” which is not true at all, but the package arrived safely nevertheless.

Here are photos showing how each product was wrapped:

Three of the items were plastic-wrapped, but the Skeleton Hand Hair Barrette and the Pearl Headband were not. I do not have any complaints about these items. I was happy to receive them all! They’re a cool mix of creepy & cute items.

For my Luo Tianyi gyaru-inspired closet cosplay, I used the pearl headband. It’s a super cute touch to the outfit~!

_DSC1027

I also used this headband for the above outfit. This headband goes great with this wig from PennyDreads! This headband is a comfortable and versatile piece.

_DSC7791

For my PennyDreads review, I also wore the red skeleton hair clip from Born Pretty Store! This clip is definitely the perfect creepy-cute touch to the outfit. It goes so well with this wig, and also with my real hair.

DSCN1303

Here, you can see the cute faux pearl bracelet. It’s stretchy, so it’s really easy to put on and take off. No need for clasps! The gold-tone bow charm is a lovely addition.

DSCN1302

Isn’t it so cute? I think this bracelet would be lovely for a gyaru or lolita coordinate. I definitely hope to wear it with some coords in the future!

DSCN1298

Now, check out the rings Born Pretty Store sent me!

DSCN1295

These are awesome punky rings that will go well with a plethora of outfits. The angel wing ring is a good size – large enough to be noticeable, but not too large. It’s comfy to wear and fits well on my ring finger. The other ring is the claw ring, and I love how it looks like an actual claw holding onto my finger.

DSCN1291

And here’s a photo of the rings’ underside:

DSCN1293

They’re both adjustable, so I’m sure these rings can fit on your fingers too.

DSCN1288

So what do you think of these rings? Do you have a favorite? I can’t pick a favorite to be honest… I love both of these rings equally! They’re both silver-tone, so I can wear them together and they match! They also fit together due to a bird theme… Wings/feathers, plus talons!

_DSC7725

All of these items are under $3, by the way! Yes, I said under $3. They’re so cheap, so feel free to splurge on a bunch of accessories from Born Pretty Store~!

You should check out Born Pretty Store‘s Jewelry & Accessories department. If anything interests you, feel free to use the coupon code “WUT10″ to get 10% off. There’s also a 50% off stationery sale until August 20. Happy Shopping~!
