Review: Sweet Pink Dreams

Sweet Pink Dreams sent me a package of lovely items! You should check out their shop for cute items~! They sell kawaii handmade accessories as well as new and pre-owned Japanese stationery. They even sell awesome false lashes!

The package I received in the mail looked like simple brown packaging, but when I opened the outer layer, I found a Priority Mail bubble mailer. Even though the outside layer got dirty during transit, the Priority Mail mailer was a clean inner layer that protected the contents well.

Inside the Priority Mail package was another layer of protection: a cute plastic bag with a spider print!

Here are the contents of the bag:

The package included two jumbo puffy hair bows, two sets of eyelashes, one bat necklace, two sweets rings, and one twin-star brooch.

Here are the two sets of false lashes:

They are both really cute! I love the designs~! I usually prefer dramatic spiky lashes over the simple one-length lashes.

Here are the rings:

They’re both covered in a glaze of glitter! So they’re sparkly and shiny. I think they’re both cute jumbo rings that would work well with sweet lolita or fairy kei (or just casually when you want to add some cuteness to your outfit!).

Check out these cute accessories:

They both remind me of cookies! The twin-star brooch has rhinestone details and an adorable string of pastel faux pearls. The bat pendant is a vibrant lime green and the necklace chain has miniature stone beads accenting the area near the pendant. Both the brooch and the necklace pendant are covered in glitter! The glitter didn’t shed too much, which is great; I think the glitter will stay on even if you wear the accessories for long periods of time.

Here is a photo of the two bows with flash:

And without flash:

The bows are both very puffy, and they feel soft, not hard. The clips in the back are sturdy and attached securely to the bows. I love these bows!

SweetPinkDreamsIf I had to choose my favorite item out of this lot, it would be the bow I wore for the above look. Take a look at Sweet Pink Dreams; I’m sure you’ll find things you like! Check out my Facebook album for photos of these products.

Resting Petals: Hair Accessories

Resting Petals is a shop that has cute accessories and trinkets inspired by vintage fashion and J-Fashion styles such as mori girl and natural kei. They sent me some cute accessories for review, and I hope you love them as much as I do!

The package I received from Resting Petals was a nice USPS mailer: DSC_0037 Nothing was damaged, and everything was in mint condition. No flaws or loose threads in sight. Here is a photo of the products without flash: DSC_0038 And with flash: DSC_0040 Resting Petals also included a business card for me! The two bows have alligator clips attached to the backs. The brooch can be worn as a brooch or a hair clip; there’s both a pin and an alligator clip on the back. Here’s a photo of me modeling the brooch: edited And you may recognize the set of two pastel bows… I wore it with a super pastel outfit the other day: DSC_0095 You can see the bows holding my wig hair at the bottom! I tied hair elastics onto the wig first, and then clipped the bows to the elastics. DSC_0098 Aren’t these bows so cute? I’m not sure if the bows will stay in my real hair, since I usually need bows with French clips or alligator clips with strong teeth (my hair is very straight and very thick), but these bows work just fine with wigs like this one. editDefinitely check out Resting Petals for more adorable hair accessories! If you love their work, like their Facebook page too. Click here to see my photo album dedicated to Resting Petals. I hope you enjoyed the review!

LBC: A Coord Inspired by Your Favorite Novel

This week on Lolita Blog Carnival, I will be sharing a coordinate inspired by my favorite novel! I love reading, so it’s very difficult for me to choose my favorite novel, but I will pick one. Hmm… I’ll pick something real horrorshow!~

lbc

What first comes to mind is A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess because I have read this novel numerous times, and it never ceases to entertain me. It is thought-provoking, clever, heart-wrenching, and beautifully written. Every time I read it, I notice something different. Perhaps this is because I am a different person each time I read it? The first time I read it, I was thirteen or fourteen. I read it several times after that, and I read it for class in my senior year of high school. I have fond memories of my final project for AP English; my research project was on Nadsat!

A Clockwork Orange
I tried to emulate Alex’s manner of dress, using a white blouse and dress. I also chose more punk-looking shoes … hardcore shoes that look good for all the bezoomy fun that Alex and his droogs engage in. The cane with the skull head would be a stylish weapon that Alex could tolchock with! And of course, Alex’s signature bowler hat (sweetened up a bit with a pretty ribbon and bow). I also added a clockwork necklace and ring to the coordinate because I do think that the idea of a “clockwork orange” in the title is important in understanding the primary theme of the book. Even though Alex does not wear clockwork items, I wanted to add clockwork motifs into the coordinate as a window into the debate regarding human nature and human will.
