Emptyland: Nov/Dec 2017

Hey, everyone! My November/December Emptyland post is really short… Because these two months were really stressful and really busy for me, and I didn’t take very good care of my skin. Now that it’s 2018, I definitely want to purge products more often this year. I hoard products for way too long (and they are probably expired).

Here’s the rundown for what the stars represent: [ ☆ = Most negative/Not good at all, ☆☆ = Not that good, but okay ☆☆☆ = Neutral/No opinion/No answer, ☆☆☆☆ = Great, ☆☆☆☆☆ = Most positive/Fantastic! ] I’ll also include my experience with each product, but the detail I go into for each product may vary.

Skincare

Belif The true cream – aqua bomb

This was my first time using a Belif product, and I loved this cream! Usually gel-like creams don’t moisturize my skin very well, but this one worked great and soothed my stress-induced acne breakouts too. I’m interested in trying other Belif products! I wouldn’t call it a holy grail product, since I don’t think it would be moisturizing enough by itself (I used it after toner, serum, and emulsion). Sometimes I want to cut back on products and make my skincare regimen quick and easy, but I have yet to find the holy grail cream.

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆☆ // Repurchase? Yes!

Nature Republic Fresh Green Tea Seed Serum

This serum had the consistency of an emulsion. I didn’t think it worked like a serum, but it didn’t have any negative effects on my skin. It was easily absorbed into my skin, and had a pleasant scent. I didn’t notice anything special from it though, so I don’t think I’ll repurchase it.

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆ // Repurchase? No

Blistex Five Star Lip Protection

This lip balm will definitely reappear a lot! Check out its first appearance in this Empties post.

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ // Repurchase? Yes

Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch

I love this product! You may be wondering why I haven’t given it 5 stars though. There’s one con to this product: sometimes they come off my face quickly, before I sleep. Even when I put them on before applying anything to my face. You can read my initial response to this product in my first Emptyland post.

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆☆ // Repurchase? Yes!

Sheet Masks

Tonymoly I’m Real Aloe Mask Sheet

Relaxing sheet mask to use! It definitely made my skin feel softer/more moisturized.

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆☆ // Repurchase? Yes

Leaders Coconut Gel Mask with Broccoli (x7)

I used all of these because they were expiring very soon (and at one point, recently expired). Check out the details for this mask in its appearance in this Emptyland!

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆☆ // Repurchase? Yes

Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask Green Tea

I love this mask and hope to try more Innisfree masks in the future! The essence was very generous in the package and I was able to use the essence in the package for my body too.

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆☆ // Repurchase? Yes

Makeup

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara

I have yet to find a mascara that actually has an effect on my eyelashes… I’m not sure if this was too old or what, but it was pretty clumpy. It came in a set with some other stuff from Sephora, I think. I wouldn’t normally buy this on my own. Didn’t finish using it, but tossing since it’s been over 6 months and I barely use it.

Overall Rating: ☆☆ // Repurchase? No

Lancôme Hypnose Drama Mascara

This mascara darkens my lashes and lengthens them somewhat, but doesn’t curl them. It’s also slightly clumpy, though not as bad as the Too Faced one. This is going to sound odd: I love the smell of this mascara! It reminds me of jasmine. Not sure if that was intentional on Lancôme’s part. I didn’t purchase this; it came as part of a gift package.

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆ // Repurchase? No

Body Care

Bath & Body Works Spiced Pumpkin Cider Body Cream

I love the scent of this body cream! It smells just like Spiced Pumpkin… It reminds me of pumpkin pies! It moisturized pretty well too.

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆☆ // Repurchase? Maybe

Sample / Travel Size

Gucci Bamboo

This is a warm and light scent! It’s fresh, and I like that it’s not too strong. As you probably know from my previous Emptyland posts… I’d never buy perfume since it’s so easy to get free samples.

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆☆ // Purchase? No

  1. You finished a lot! 🙂

I got the Belif Aqua Bomb for Christmas – can’t wait to open it up! I’ve only heard raves for that product.

I wouldn’t give the CorRX acne patches a perfect score either – mainly because they include the useless tiny sizes that fall right off. I wish they only include the medium and large sizes! 😛

Innisfree sheet masks are on my list to try. The green tea one sounds good – I’m a fan of green tea in skincare, my skin seems to do well with it.

I honestly don’t understand the perceived “hype” about Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara – from my peers and fellow bloggers, they all hate it. But when I read online reviews and even the SA at Sephora said it’s one of their best selling mascaras. I’m scratching my head!

It’s too bad that BBW has such good seasonal scents and it’s always unknown if they will make a return next season. I hate falling in love and getting attached to their stuff.

    • Yessss!! It’s a great moisturizer!

I agree, haha. Although the small ones are sometimes good for the really tiny acne spots (but then again, if they’re so tiny, you can probably ignore them…)

Do you have any mascara recommendations that would work for very thin/sparse/straight lashes? I tend to just ignore my lashes and use falsies if I care haha.
