Sugar Pop Party Shop: Jewelry Review

Sugar Pop Party Shop gave me some jewelry to review. I chose two necklaces and a ring, but the shop also threw in two cute bracelets as freebies for me. Check them out on Etsy and Storenvy!

Now first things first: let’s talk about the package!

The package I received was a sturdy bubble mailer. There were no rips or tears, and the package was easy to open. Good choice in packaging, Sugar Pop Party Shop!

DSC_2173Inside the package was a cute sheer drawstring bag… filled with goodies! You can see the two freebie bracelets right there on the outside, and then there’s also a pink box and a blue drawstring bag.

Here are the contents of the bag:

DSC_2175Jamie, the owner of Sugar Pop Party Shop, even included a sheet of Disney Princess stickers! There is one thing missing from this photo though: the glitter Kawaii necklace. Here is the story: Even though the necklace was packaged in the pink box, it somehow got damaged during shipping.

The necklace’s pendant, the drippy “Kawaii” text, snapped in half. I emailed Jamie immediately to let her know that the necklace was damaged, and she responded quickly and said she would ship out a replacement. Jamie also assured me that she always replaces any item lost or damaged during shipping, so you can rest assured that Sugar Pop Party Shop will take care of any damaged items you receive.

I received the replacement necklace in a timely manner and was very pleased! It was completely intact and I have no complaints. The necklace is super cute and easy to wear.

For this sponsorship, I decided to model the jewelry in two pastel-themed coordinates. One of them is a sweet lolita outfit, and the other one is just a cute harajuku-style outfit (inspired by both gyaru and fairy kei). Both outfits include the bracelets and macaron ring as accessories. You can find all jewelry pieces in Sugar Pop Party Shop’s Etsy and Storenvy.

Let’s start with the non-lolita outfit, featuring the Kawaii necklace!

DSC_2192

I love this Kawaii necklace! It’s very pink: there’s a pink chain, a hot pink bow charm, and the super sparkly “Kawaii” pendant! The pendant is very clean-cut and vibrant. The glitter does not rub off, which is great! The necklace secures at the back using a lobster clasp. It was a bit too long on me, but I was able to make the necklace shorter by clasping it on one of the chain links. It’s easy to adjust the length!

In the above photo, you can see the mint macaron ring and the two beaded bracelets from Sugar Pop Party Shop. All these pieces of pastel jewelry are well-made and too cute~! I’m very pleased with the bracelets because usually bracelets are too large for my wrists and slide off constantly. These bracelets are small enough to fit my thin wrists, and they are also stretchy, so I can easy put them on and take them off without worrying about ripping the bracelets. The macaron ring is on an adjustable band, so it should fit a variety of sizes. The detail on the macaron ring is incredible! The texture of the cream in the center looks almost like real cream, and the color choices are superb. Pink, mint, and red are such a great color combination!

Now let’s talk about sweet lolita, featuring the chocolate bar necklace!

The chocolate bar necklace is adorable. I love the gold chain; I think gold suits this necklace best! The little heart and bow at the top of the chocolate bar pendant is a perfect addition too. The necklace works well as a statement piece, and I think it would go great with sweet lolita coordinates and otome coordinates. This can also be worked into classic lolita, and I can see it working for aomoji-kei.

I would highly recommend Sugar Pop Party Shop for anyone interested in J-Fashion or alternative fashion, or even sweets enthusiasts or people who love cute things! This shop has a wide variety of adorable products to suit different tastes. Check out what’s in stock at their Etsy and Storenvy! Even though this was a sponsored review, keep in mind that the opinions expressed in this review were thoughtful and honest. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me!

LBC: The Most Versatile Lolita Item I Own

lbc

The most versatile lolita item I own would definitely be a blouse! Blouses can be worn under JSKS or with skirts, and blouses can also be used for ouji coordinates. I am not sure which blouse I have is the most versatile one, but after some minutes of thinking, I decided that my most versatile blouse is my black Fanplusfriend short-sleeved blouse.

DSC_2166

I believe that this blouse is the most versatile item I own because it can be used for a variety of different substyles: sweet lolita, classic lolita, gothic lolita, and even casual lolita. It has a simple design and the color is solid black (no other colors work their way into this blouse). The simplicity of this blouse makes it easy to match with different styles, as long as the color black works for the coordinate. Black is an easy color to match too! If the blouse was blue or red, for example, it would be harder to mix and match. In addition, the short sleeves make the blouse ideal for summer heat, and it can be layered with a bolero or cardigan for the autumn or spring, plus with a jacket or coat (plus a scarf and gloves) for winter!

Here are some previous coordinates using this blouse:

It was a really hot summer day, and I did not want to deal with the high-collar design of this blouse, so I unbuttoned the top buttons. As you can see below, the blouse still looks decent even though I didn’t button it all the way to the top! It worked quite well for the heat.

So how about you? What is the most versatile lolita item that you own? And if you are not a lolita, what is the most versatile clothing item that you own?

Review: Bodyline Order!

So this review is rather belated, but better late than never~! Bodyline had a free shipping promotion, and I could not resist placing an order. I did not order any lolita clothing, but I did order two pairs of shoes (a pair of white shoes and a pair of pink wedge boots) and a pair of wrist cuffs. I also ordered a cosplay costume since it was so cheap from Bodyline. Shipping was COMPLETELY FREE! No hidden fees.

Here is what the checkout looks like on the Bodyline website (in English):

Screen Shot 2014-03-30 at 2.35.41 AM

They split my order into two packages, but they never notified me about this… so when I received the first package, I was concerned that they completely forgot about my boots. I emailed them, and they responded the same day, telling me that the boots were mailed separately.

Timeline:

March 29, 2014 – Placed order with Bodyline, paid via PayPal, and received receipt from PayPal.

March 31, 2014 – Received an email saying that my package has been shipped, and the email provided a tracking number.

April 19, 2014 – Received first package. Reviewed contents and emailed Bodyline asking why the pink boots were missing from the package. A few hours later, I received a response from Bodyline. Here is what they said: “In another bag” … not the most professional response (no greeting, no closing, no punctuation…) but at least it was a fast response.

April 22, 2014 – Received second package (the pink boots).

Bodyline Package 1

The first package, pictured above, contained everything but the pink boots. I was worried when I saw that they mailed everything in a thin package; the package already had a few rips and tears! The white mary-jane shoes were packed in a box, within the overall package, but the box was damaged in the shipping process. The shoes were not damaged, but there was a small scuff. It isn’t too noticeable though. The cosplay came in a protective plastic wrap, and the wristcuffs were squished between the box and the cosplay, but everything was undamaged.

The second package contained the pink boots. The boots did not come with a shoebox.

Bodyline Package 2

The boots were wrapped in bubble-wrap though, so there were no major damages. The packaging was dirty, and it also had a strange smell, but there were no major rips.

Bodyline Pink Boots

I tried on the boots, and they are very true to size! I usually wear size 8.5 (American sizing), so I purchased these boots in size 24.5 (Japanese sizing). The length and width for my feet are fine, and the boots fit my calves as well. There are zippers on the boots too. There are some weird stains on the zippers, but these are not too big of a deal. You can see one of the stains in the bottom-center photo.

The construction for both pairs of shoes are sturdy, and I do not think these shoes will fall apart easily. The zippers on the boots are rather stiff, but this may be because they are brand new boots. The white mary-janes are also true to size.

This experience was not a completely positive one, but I would not hesitate to purchase from Bodyline again if there is another free shipping promotion. (I really love free shipping~!)

Here is my final review for my experience with Bodyline:

Overall: ☆☆☆☆ (Free shipping is one of my favorite things. International shipping is so pricey.)

Ordering Process and Shipping: ☆☆☆ (I am disappointed that Bodyline never told me the order would be split into two packages. )

Communication: ☆☆☆☆ (The response email was quick, even though it was an awkward 3-word email.)

Packaging: ☆☆ (The packaging was disappointing, but it was not terrible.)

Color: ☆☆☆☆☆ (The colors were true to the stock photos! No complaints here.)

Style: ☆☆☆☆ (I don’t have any complaints! The cosplay could have been better, but for the price, it was a good deal.)

Construction: ☆☆☆☆ (I do not see any problems with the construction right now, but I have not worn them much yet. The only item I have worn since this purchase are the white mary-janes. I only tried on the other items.)

(☆ = Most negative/Not good at all, ☆☆ = Not that good, but okay ☆☆☆ = Neutral/No opinion/No answer, ☆☆☆☆ = Great, ☆☆☆☆☆ = Most positive/Fantastic!)

Feel free to ask me any questions!
