Lolitas at Conbust 2013!

Sophie (a fellow student) and I ran a Lolita panel called Lolita Fashion 101 at Conbust this year. It was my first year attending Conbust, and I also had the opportunity to be on con staff as well as run two panels and co-host the cosplay contest. It was a really busy and hectic weekend, but it was also a great con! For a small con, there were a huge array of activities, events, and panels. It was so great to be able to see cosplayers and Lolitas around campus for the weekend. πŸ™‚

For the Lolita Fashion 101 panel, Sophie and I made a Prezi presentation. We discussed the history of Lolita fashion, major Lolita fashion brands and companies, Lolita substyles, and what goes into making a Lolita coord. We also gave advice for Lolitas on a budget and took questions from the audience. People came with great questions! I was really happy with the crowd we had. We even had time to let volunteers come up to explain their coordinates. Everyone looked so cute and cool!

Here is a mini group photo of Sophie, me, and a few other attendees:

I can’t wait for next year’s Conbust!

Also, as for upcoming posts… I might compile a bunch of casual coords I’ve done and write about casual lolita. Sometimes I don’t feel comfortable going all-out in Lolita when I’m by myself and in public. I am still trying to build up my self-confidence to wear full lolita in public and on my own… But casual lolita is something that I am confident enough to wear by myself at the moment. πŸ™‚

I will also try my best to participate in more Lolita Blog Carnival prompts! ❀

Lolita Blog Carnival: Frill-talia!

Frill-talia: An outfit inspired by a country

LBC

As a huge fan of both Hetalia and Lolita fashion, I am really excited to write this Lolita Blog Carnival post~!

The country I am choosing to coordinate an outfit for is…

CHINA!

I want to try to come up with a Qi Lolita coordinate on my own for China, but here are examples of Qi Lolita for those who are unfamiliar with it:

From Fanplusfriend –

From R-Series –

Here is the Qi Lolita coordinate I came up with for Frill-talia:

T23pOrXc8cXXXXXXXX_!!653678154

Blouse!Β – Chinese-styled Lolita blouse (Mandarin collar and Chinese buttons!)

l353-2

Skirt (black colorway) from Bodyline! – Floral details, high-waisted

For hair, I would go with a Chinese double bun style! Cute hair accessories would be a floral headband or flower pinned to the hair. Maybe a faux peony hair clip?

And then for shoes, either black mary-janes or black Chinese silk slippers.

For final accessories, I’d throw together cute bracelets with macrame knot details and maybe a necklace with a pretty jade pendant.

Sorry about the messy post! (Really busy this weekend and I’m in a huge rush…)

ConBust 2013 Preview~

ConBust 2013 Preview~

When I have the time, I’ll write up a post about my ConBust experience. πŸ™‚ This year was my first time attending ConBust (and it was also my first time staffing a con!)

I also had the opportunity to run two panels, and one of my panels was a Lolita Fashion 101 panel. I had a fellow student as my co-panelist, and it was fun. πŸ™‚
