PennyDreads: Strawberry Jam

Here is the package that arrived in my mailbox:

Upon opening the package, I found an envelope with a glittery pink heart sticker and, of course, the wig nestled neatly in a plastic bag. Inside the envelope was a cute Thank You card! This card was a sweet touch… Thanks so much, Penny Dreads! There’s no need to thank me; I should be thanking you.

The wig came with a hairnet, which is great! I love hairnets because they keep the wig fibers from getting tangled during transit (and during storage!). The color of the wig is a dark blonde dip-dyed in raspberry-red! I like how the dip-dye is not too stark. It looks natural, as the blonde hue fades into the red. There are even little dip-dyed bits on the bangs!

The inside of the wig has the Penny Wigs tag and adjustable elastics. As you can see in the above photo, there are many wefts; it’s a nice thick wig!

My favorite shot!

I had a photoshoot featuring this wig with the photographer Studio du petit oiseau. I absolutely love the resulting photos and I hope you love them too! The wig is really comfortable to wear! It doesn’t feel tight or loose, and since the wig circumference is adjustable, I’m sure it’ll fit you too (use the hooks on the inside of the wig). The wig fibers are soft and smooth, and the waves are gorgeous. I did not have to cut or style this wig at all; I wore it straight out of the bag. The bangs are great for a sweeping bang style! If you want straight bangs, they would be easy to trim to your liking. Since the wig is thick, you can’t see my real hair color or wig cap from the back of the wig (which is an issue with some wig brands!).

I really love the transition of colors in this Strawberry Jam wig! The raspberry red is also deliciously vibrant. Hard Candy House: First Batch (1)

Hard Candy House sponsored me for the first time! I love their products, so I was flattered when they decided to sponsor me. They make so many super cute accessories that fit a variety of styles. Check out their Etsy store too!

Even the packaging was cute: Check out the cute heart tape! I was really excited to see this package!

Everything was safely packaged; there were no damages to the items. I was very pleased with the care Hard Candy House took in their packaging.

When I opened up the mailer, I found a package wrapped in polka-dot tissue paper! Upon opening this inner package, I found more packaging. Each item was wrapped in its own tissue paper and plastic bag.

Now, let’s go through each item in the batch! I noticed that the items seemed to be in one of two categories: an exclusive set of pink items from the Good Girl collection, and a set of cherry-themed items from the Cherry Tart collection. All items from these collections are one-of-a-kind! First, let’s take a look at the Good Girl collection!

Below, you’ll see two photos of a necklace taken in natural lighting.

When I first unwrapped this necklace, I thought it was a hairbow! The jumbo bow pendant is super cute. I love the details such as the heart charm and the string of faux pearls. The print on the bow is cute and versatile as well! I think this bow could work for sweet lolita, classic lolita, and even hime gyaru fashion! This necklace would be a great statement piece with a simple outfit as well.

The construction is sturdy, so don’t be afraid to wear this outside!

The next item in this pink collection is a flower accessory that can double as a hairclip and a brooch!

I love how some of the petals use the same fabric as the bow on the necklace. This little detail really brings the set together. The string of pearls and the color scheme also add consistency; if you wear this hair accessory with the necklace, it truly is a perfect match. If you wear them separately, they would still be super cute!

I’m glad that the backing has a French clip as an option! This is one of my favorite types of clip because it’s sturdy and works well with thick hair. You can use clip this flower into your hair or your wig, or you can pin it to your top, skirt, dress, purse… you name it!

The next accessory is absolutely adorable: a bow with generously dangling charms that you can clip onto your backpack or purse! Now, you can bling out your bag to match your outfit and other pink accessories. This bow looks almost the same as the one on the necklace, and it uses the same fabric. The charms include faux crystals, faux pearls, a flower bead, and a cute fuzzy teddy bear (and more!)!

Despite the huge amount of charms, it doesn’t feel too heavy. I don’t think the charms will rip the bow. The clip on the top is easy to use!

Hard Candy House also sent me the following pair of earrings from the Good Girl collection. They’re super cute and I love how the tiny bows use the same fabric as all the other accessories in the collection. The construction is sturdy and the design is lovely!

Unfortunately, I have extremely sensitive ears, so I cannot wear these earrings. (I can only wear sterling silver or gold earrings.) But if you don’t have sensitive ears, be sure to check out Hard Candy House‘s earrings! They have so many pretty designs.

PinkyParadise: Media Diva Review

As usual, I’ll share my circle lens ratings:

Overall: ☆☆☆☆☆

Style: ☆☆☆☆☆ The circle lens design is beautiful! There’s a thick black limbal ring along with a variety of shades of brown on the inner portions of the lenses. The lens design looks slightly like a flower (petals opening up around the pupil).

Enlargement: ☆☆☆☆☆ Amazing enlargement! The thick limbal ring definitely helps to delineate your eyes as much bigger than they actually are. The diameter is perfect for that big-eyed dolly look! I love how big my eyes look when I wear these lenses.

Color: ☆☆☆☆☆ The limbal ring is a bold solid black. There’s flecks of pale brown as well as a slightly orange-tinted brown (a nice golden hue). The colors are rich, just like chocolate!

Comfort: ☆☆☆☆☆ These are super comfortable lenses! I can wear them all day without a problem. They don’t dry out my eyes; I don’t even need to use eye drops. If you want comfy lenses, I would highly recommend the Geo Princess Mimi Chocolate Brown circle lenses!

I absolutely adore these circle lenses! I’ve tried another lens pair from the Geo Princess Mimi series, and those lenses are also really comfortable and cute. If you want a different lens from the Geo Princess Mimi series, go for it! I’m sure you’ll be satisfied.

How do you make your eyes so big?

This is a question I have received on Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr. Many people who use circle lenses to achieve the big-eye look, since circle lenses literally enlarge your eyes (or at least give the illusion of bigger pupils and/or bigger irises). I love circle lenses for this same reason! But in addition to circle lenses, I use other techniques to make my eyes look bigger. Here are my top 3 tips for dolly eyes, in addition to circle lenses:

False eyelashes. If you use false lashes, they can really open up your eyes and make them look bigger! Exaggerated lashes give the illusion of bigger eyes. Using just top lashes makes your eyes bigger, but if you use both top and bottom lashes, your eyes will appear to be even more exaggerated in size. When I apply my bottom lashes, I don’t put them at the waterline. By applying them below the waterline, it creates the illusion of larger eyes.
Black eyeliner. Thick black eyeliner can also make your eyes look bigger since they draw attention to the outline of your eye. This is similar to how a dark and solid limbal ring on circle lenses gives the illusion of bigger eyes as well. You can apply black eyeliner with or without false lashes for an enlarging effect. Even when I don’t wear false lashes, I find that simple eyeliner can make my eyes look bigger.
White eyeliner and/or light-colored/luminescent eyeshadow. This is one of my favorite tricks! In the look I used for this blog post featuring the Geo Princess Mimi Chocolate Brown circle lenses, I used a silver eyeshadow. Normally, at home, I use white eyeliner to line the bottom of my eyes, but since I’m studying abroad, I had to pack light and the only eyeliner I brought with me was my black one. Since I didn’t have any white eyeliner, I decided to try using silver eyeshadow… and it works the same way! It also gives a cute sparkle to your eyes. If you use a light-colored/luminescent eyeshadow, carefully apply it to the bottoms of your eyes in a line. Do not blend the shadow. This should make your eyes pop!

Above, you can see that I am not wearing any false lashes. I used black eyeliner on the top and white eyeliner on the bottom, as well as neutral eyeshadows.

I also used these lenses for my Magnet Meiko (Vocaloid) costest! And of course, I’ve used these lenses upon other occasions as well. I hope you like them as much as I do!
